Public schools who want to institute mask mandate rules can't be denied federal funds, even if their state governments try to pressure them out of mask mandates, Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said.
The Florida state government threatened to withhold funds for schools in Broward and Alachua counties if they imposed mandatory mask rules. But the Biden administration has proposed using federal funds to make up the difference, with Cardona specifying Sunday that the schools "do not have to get the green light for [their] governor to use these funds."
"We have to do everything in our power to keep them safe," Cardona said on NBC's “Meet the Press.“ "I spoke to the superintendents of those two communities and I let them know that we have their back. And yes, they can draw down on the funds that were promised to them so they can safely reopen schools."
Cardona added that the administration is prepared to launch investigations into states barring masking rules through the Office of Civil Rights — a move the administration floated last week.

WHY ARE THE MASKS MANDATED?
Alex, i’ll take:
” what is because the masks cause oxygen loss,
disease and death, maybe even adenocarcinomata.”
Xiden brings DEATH
“investigations into states barring masking rules through the Office of Civil Rights”
So there’s now a right to make others wear masks?
Mencken: The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it. Power is what all messiahs really seek: not the chance to serve.
The States should have all the power in the world. The federal government should be so limited that it can do almost nothing other than to wage war, should Congress happen to declare war. And when was the last time that happened? I want a federal government with an annual budget of maybe $500B. Maybe.
Try and stop them. Federal funds are not that much, enough red states refuse federal funds the DOE can be done away with altogether.
The Federal money is a pittance next to the state money.
But they can still withhold state funds which can be substantial in some cases.
This was inevitable after the disaster at Appomattox.
No enumerated power for the federal to give funds to State education to begin with.
Easy fix: honor the 10th Amendment and throw federal progressivism to the curb … which are one and the same thing.
Masks are:
1) a sign of submission, subversion and subjugation
2) mandated in order to dehumanize
3) virtue signaling devices
4) meant to provide constant reinforcement of fear
5) used to destroy community, friends and family normal communication
6) implemented to create isolation, confusion, anxiety, destroy human connectivity, trust and interactions
7) mandated to exacerbate illness
8) intended to aid in the abandonment of the belief and reliance on our immune systems
9) intended to refute integrous science
10) signal to positions of power that you are willing to give up all of your rights and freedoms based on anything they say, even if it is a BIG FAT LIE!
The carrot of goodies leads to the stick of tyranny. Bank on it.
The Education Secretary does not have the power to make laws.
That will backfire when it is determined that the majority of persons not getting the shot are minorities. Which would mean a mask mandate would disproportionately effect those students since an argument can be made that the vaccinated should be allowed to forego the mask.
I think it contained in article 46 of the living constitution....
I thought Federal funding was block granted to the States not direct. Florida just needs to sit on the funds.
Also Mencken: “The entire aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed and, hence, clamorous to be led by an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.”
Bfl
The states can block state funds though.
Well heck, if the education secretary said it, it must be the law. I mean, his word carries the same weight as the Supreme Court's, right?
