Joe Biden Literally Says ‘Knock on Wood’ to Describe Afghanistan Evacuation Strategy

President Joe Biden detailed his strategy to get Americans, Afghan allies, and refugees out of Afghanistan on Friday but caveated with “knock on wood” — a superstitious idiom expressing uncertainty about one’s fortunes.

“What we’ve done so far is been able to get a large number of Americans out, all our personnel at the embassy out, and so on,” Biden said. “And thank God, so far, knock on wood, we’re in a different position.”

Biden makes everything worse by speaking. When I use “knock on wood,” it is not a sign of certainty. When he uses it, it makes think of “whistling past the graveyard.”

That is exactly right, and he refuses to acknowledge it. HE MADE A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL.

Moreover, I think many Americans were kind of expecting him to fire someone in the aftermath of this huge debacle. That wouldn’t fix the mess but people would have liked to see the government hold someone accountable — for once.

That’s what a real leader would have done.
