Enough is enough: WTOP's GM addresses racist letter written to staffer
WTOP (Washington DC) ^ | July 21, 2021 | Joel Oxley

Posted on 07/21/2021 3:37:15 PM PDT by FalloutShelterGirl

As I’m sure most people would assume, we get plenty of criticism at WTOP.

Sometimes it’s constructive: We need to use better grammar; we need to add more details to our stories; or we made a mistake.

Sometimes it’s about opinion: We are too left because we talk to liberals; or we are too right because we talk to conservatives.

And that’s all OK. We’re not perfect. We strive to be accurate all the time. We aim to be unbiased. At WTOP, we are glad to get the feedback. It makes us better — negative, positive and in-between.

Then there is the communication that really bothers me. The kind that is racist. The kind that gets my back up. Makes me angry. The kind that can’t go unaddressed.

Take a look at this letter we received recently:

The letter posted simply states that we are all sick of hearing about their fake racism. The letter concludes with "I work with people from many countries that immigrated here, they are all doing fine. They don't use race as an excuse. They are not killing, looting, burning."

The WTOP staff is livid over this hater! How dare he! It would be funny if it wasn't scary.

The letter would have been good if the writer had not said “just an excuse that blacks for not improving themselves”.
That is just not true of all black people, so it is offensive, IMO.

Perhaps this guy has not seen all of the black people coming out against CRT.

Poorly thought out and worded. He needs an aide or confidant to read over his notes because it is racist and unprofessional. He could convey the same thoughts without going over the line.

What a sanctimonious load of sh*t. There was nothing racist about that letter. We are all sick of hearing about that racist crap and 99% of us are not racists (though they are trying their best to turn us into racists). I am in the WTOP listening area and they have given me yet another reason not to to tune in.

J.J. is (b)lack. And I’m white. Shouldn’t matter, right? But obviously it does to the person who wrote this letter. My goal with my response to this is to expose this kind of racial intolerance and ignorance in the hopes of putting more and more of it behind us for good. …
Garbage. J.J. Green’s skin color does not matter to the writer of the letter (presuming it is genuine), but his rhetoric.

Wow, the GM is trying for a higher level of Wokeness and virtue signaling. There is nothing racist about the letter other than the writer dared to challenge the current CRT, everybody is defined by their race approved government message.

The letter is polite, thoughtful, and not racist. The letter writer's "crime" was not prostrating before the altar of BLM and "systemic racism". The author is correct about the immigrants he works with. By and large immigrants have something of a work ethic. I've never had a problem with foreigners whom I've worked with. All in all the letter writer is ON THE MARK, and he/she is anything but racist.

If that’s the worst letter they’ve ever gotten I’d be very surprised. I’ve seen real life hate mail, just sent to ordinary people I actually know, not you know, the MEDIA or a RADIO STATION, and it’s been A LOT worse than this.

It’s correct. America’s first and foremost victim group uses accusations of racism as an excuse for their self-inflicted failures. That is the truest thing anyone ever said, even if Sheldon Cooper would say that a thing can’t be truest-just true.

They blame Whitey for their failures, and they hate Whitey.

Racism isn’t bothersome. What is bothersome is when people write articles and mention some acronym like WTOP and expect that everyone in the world knows what it is.

Why doesn’t it strike everyone as “odd” that the statement, ‘They are not killing, looting, burning,’ is interpreted as racist, when it doesn’t single out a race.

Why would someone assume a is singled out by the phrase ‘...killing, looting, burning...’?

you must be young. It's a broadcast call sign. TV stations have them. Radio stations have them. West of the Mississippi start with "K" and East start with "W." Except for one...

Trivia buffs?

“no one believes in systemic racism”

Then why is the term repeated so often?

I believe the thinking goes like this: “I have noticed that your ideas differ from my ideas. Why you so racist?”

Because you call a man a donkey 99 times and the 100th he will bray.

We are on the ninety sixth time or so.

What happens after that will not be pleasant.

What's with all the semicolons? Did the punctuation store have a Christmas in July sale?
