Florida man gets 8 months in prison in 1st felony sentence from Capitol riot
NBC News ^ | July 19, 2021 | Pete Williams

A Florida man who was seen carrying a large red "Trump 2020" flag on the floor of the U.S. Senate during the Capitol riot received eight months in prison Monday in the first felony sentence from the Jan. 6 attack.

Paul Allard Hodgkins, 38, of Tampa, was arrested Feb. 16 after the FBI received a tip identifying him among the hundreds of people seen in photos and videos inside the Capitol. He pleaded guilty in June to a single felony count of obstructing an official proceeding, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

"Although you were only one member of a larger mob, you actively participated in a larger event that threatened the Capitol and democracy itself," said U.S. District Court Judge Randolph Moss of Washington, DC.

"The damage that was caused that way was way beyond a several-hour delay of the vote certification," Moss said. "It is a damage that will persist in this country for several decades."

"It is a damage that will persist in this country for several decades."

Said no judge anywhere at any time to any antifa or BLM defendant for fomenting a communist revolution and wreaking $2 billion of property damage.

". . .you actively participated in a larger event that threatened the Capitol and democracy itself. . ."

Bald-faced lie!!!!!!!! Protesters posed ZERO threat do democracy. Not a single gun was confiscated from the protestors. The ones who posed the threat to democracy were the FBI protester infiltrators and the Congress members cowing in the bowels of the capital.

Scary Stalinesque show-trial stuff. At least he wasn’t summarily executed.

Clerked for Stevens, Yale law school, 14 years as a private attorney in the Swamp, appointed to present post by Obama.

The chance of him understanding how Americans actually live is about zero.

I hope he doesn’t have to share a cell with an antifa protester confined for “more than a riot”.

Hodgkins' lawyer, Patrick Leduc, is guilty of setting this guy up, and sending him down the river.

Actually READ the words of the "crime". the sentencing "judge" and the lawyer.

Purity boojit and if and when Trump is rightfully re-seated, along with Rittenhouse ... they'll all be vacated, pardoned and given restitution

Kyle Rittenhouse can’t receive a Presidential pardon as his offense was a violation of state law, not Federal.

I’m definitely NOT promoting violence, but do the Democrats not realize that dishing out big time punishment for small time political actions undermines future restraint? Old saying: “Might as well be hanged for a wolf than a lamb”.

Are they trying to provoke a real insurrection as an excuse to exterminate all their political enemies?
