House Republicans ‘deeply concerned’ about US Olympic athletes protesting

More than three dozen Republican House members have penned a letter to the US Olympic Committee to express their concerns about American athletes holding political protests at the Summer Games in Tokyo — singling out hammer thrower Gwen Berry, who turned away as the national anthem was played during the national trials last month.

The 39 Republicans wrote to US Olympic and Paralympic Committee Chair Susanne Lyons and CEO Sarah Hirshland, urging them to comply with Rule 50 of the International Olympic Committee’s charter that prohibits political expression by athletes, Fox News reported on Thursday.

“We are deeply concerned by the growing trend of American athletes taking advantage of the international platform afforded by the Olympic games to perpetuate divisive, hateful and anti-American ideologies,” the letter signed by the 39 Republicans said.

Republican House members have penned a letter

I'd rather they swing a Louisville slugger.

Meanwhile, ordinary citizens who love their country are in solitary confinement 23 hours a day in a D.C. jail.

I read the headline and thought to myself “They can write a letter.”

Then I read the first line of the excerpt and found that they beat me to it.

But FBI turning into America’s KGB, and $30 Trillion in Fed.gov debt?

Meh.

This is NOT a case of ‘diplomacy’!!!

Those coongresscritters would be better suited to pen a request to the AMERICAN Olympic management, that those ahem cough wheeze ‘activist athletes’ be removed from the Olympic teams, because they do not represent America at large, added with wording that if they were not removed, funds would be withheld!!

I figure I’ll just completely ignore the Olympics so I won’t have to be concerned about this kind of thing.

Tomorrow they will write another anti-flag burning law.

Very important issues and all that.

The GOP couldn’t care less and can barely fake interest. GOP donors have no interest in fighting the culture wars and that is all the Chamber of Chinese Commerce owned GOP think about.

Cut off the money.

The Olympics are a thing of the past.

Let the atheletes fund themselves.

Yeah, Republicans are mostly spinless.

Frankly, they are in part on the take with the same guys that pay the Dems: China, Saudi Arabia, big pharma, big tech.

But... as to this issue. It’s real simple.

US athletes are there representing the US.

If they have any issue with that, please do not go. Let someone else go instead. I am sure others would be willing to go if afforded the chance. If someone goes and then plays games after winning a medal, do not let them stand or receive the medal. That simple. Hand the medal over after or right at the end of the anthem.

The GOP has no spine to fight for the people who put them in office. Since that's the case, let's put someone new in their place. If they can fog a mirror, they're a better choice.

The woman’s soccer team protest during national anthem every single game now.

Even though they are all millionaires, they still have a burning need to protest America. They are pathetic.

A penned letter? That’s more than they did concerning a stolen election and hijacked country. The entire Repugnant Party in Kongress is a disgrace.

WGAF. This is a matter of national concern to anyone in Congress?

Ignore the malcontents. It looks like they'll be competing with no spectators in the stands anyway.

Maybe the TV crews will all come down with COVID and there won't be any TV coverage, either.
