Ted Cruz to Newsmax: 'Considering' 2024 White House Run
Newsmax ^ | Thursday, 01 July 2021 06:49 PM | By Jack Gournell

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, tells Newsmax he's "considering" another run for the White House in 2024, but he'd be happy seeking another term representing Texas in the U.S. Senate as well.

Appearing Thursday on "The Chris Salcedo Show," Cruz told guest host Tom Basile he was "just considering it, just thinking about it," when asked about his 2024 plans.

Former President Donald Trump has yet to announce whether he will seek reelection after his 2020 loss to Democrat Joe Biden. A move by Trump to reclaim the Oval Office would certainly make the still popular former commander-in-chief the strong front-runner and force most serious candidates such as Cruz to sit out another four years.

But Cruz said his 2016 bid for the GOP presidential nomination, in which he was the last candidate standing against Trump, was "the most fun I've ever had in my life."

"We came incredibly close," he said. "Had an incredible grassroots army of 326,000 volunteers nationwide. And so whether it is in the Senate, or whether it is in a presidential campaign, I am committed to fighting to defend free enterprise, to defend freedom and defend the Constitution and Bill of Rights."

What will you do if he becomes the nominee?

I don’t like the guy - he has always seemed a little too in love with himself, for me. But I’ve voted for worse, because the greater of evils threatened to be - and turned out to be - disastrous.

“There are ONLY TWO people on the planted I would consider voting for Trump, and DeSantis everyone else even considering running does NOT deserve my time to vote!!”

Trump/Desantis is the only ticket that makes sense for 2024.

Lets work hard and make it happen!!!!!!

Sorry about the exclamation points, but your enthusiasm is contagious.

“Animals stretch themselves upwards to look more powerful.
Senators consider running for president for the same reason.”
LOL. Senators are well known for one thing. Talking. No Senator is known for being a man of ACTION. Ted was the CAPTAIN of his College DEBATING TEAM. A TALKER. Senator is the PERFECT job for such a man.
Besides his experience as a debater / talker what has he ever done of any substance in his entire life? What business has he ever started or run? How many people has he employed? What real-life job experience has he ever had?
People like Ted are the exact reason we are as a country in the trouble we are in. Too many lifelong politicians and not enough Citizens running for a specific American People issues and when resolved go back to their previous life.
Career politicians have no ability to represent We The People because they have No Ability to Relate to We the People.

He won’t become the nominee so it will not be an issue. Self serving,=, backbiting, grandstanding opportunist Cruz is not a credible candidate and is not a natural born citizen to boot. That may not matter to some but it will peel away an additional group of voters.

The tiff with Trump during the last primary campaign showed that the otherwise sterling Mr. Cruz cannot handle the crap he will get from the Democrats. His reaction to Trump’s remarks showed that. I was aghast that Donald would talk to/about Ted that way until Ted reacted. DJT showed thereby that TC cannot stand the gaff.

Ted Cruz is the best option after Trump.

Trump is like Churchill in the 1930s. He is uniquely qualified and divinely placed.

It’s more than a little disappointing that this constitutional conservative - born in Canada to a Cuban-national father - seems not to understand the natural-born citizen clause of the Constitution.

Trump & DeSantis. I like Pompeo but I think DeSantis as VP leads to continuation of a strong leader in 2028. I think President Trump will run & win in 2024.
