We've Been Telling the Alamo Story Wrong for Nearly 200 Years. Now It's Time to Correct the Record

Imagine if the U.S. were to open interior Alaska for colonization and, for whatever reason, thousands of Canadian settlers poured in, establishing their own towns, hockey rinks and Tim Hortons stores. When the U.S. insists they follow American laws and pay American taxes, they refuse. When the government tries to collect taxes, they shoot and kill American soldiers. When law enforcement goes after the killers, the colonists, backed by Canadian financing and mercenaries, take up arms in open revolt.

Whenever I’ve come across an idiot that said they want their stolen land back, other than telling them it was paid for, I explained to them it’s not the land that makes the difference in the two countries, it’s the laws and the people. Do they think if Texas, California, etc. Became part of Mexico they would still be under US laws, opportunities, etc? No one could answer.

There were Mexicans here, and they wanted out from Mexico too.

“I remember when Trump spoke from the podium, “America will NEVER be a socialist country”. Well, those mentioned previously are seeking to prove him wrong.”

I agree with that.

The Texans were fighting the man known as “the Napoleon of the West.” It’s doubtful his ambition would have been satisfied with Texas alone.

The Mexican govt. was not following the 1824 constitution.
Surprisingly enough, this caused a conflict.

The Federal Constitution of the United Mexican States (1824) required each state to draft its own constitution. The state of Coahuila and the former Spanish province of Texas were combined as the state of Coahuila and Texas and the state’s constitution was promulgated in 1827.

China is enslaving people and stealing territory at this very moment, but that’s OK to Time’s fellow travelers.

No wonder murmers of George P. Bush, after his Alamo leadership failure, thinks he’s now qualified to consider a run for the Governor of Texas title.

All this, as the great Texas Attorney General gets hit by.. wait for it... Texas *Republicans*. His crime?
Speaking on voter fraud. 🤠

Bushie RINO’s of Texas rattle their tail beads.

Keep telling the truth like that, and after the Great Reset you won’t even be able to get a drink of water.

Revisionists are coming after the Alamo now.

You mean again. They never stop. Just pissed off that their kind didn't prevail.

What did Jim Bowie ask Davy Crockett the day they saw 5,000 Mexicans approaching the Alamo?

"Hey Davy, are we pouring concrete today?"

And his analogy of Canadians revolting in Alaska would make more sense if it involved a new regime taking over and abrogating the previous constitution, which Santa Anna did.

And if the US was even less of a country at the time than the original US colonies.

Tench_Coxe: Thanks for posting this Orwell reality:

“The largest section of the Records Department, far larger than the one on which Winston worked, consisted simply of persons whose duty it was to track down and collect all copies of books, newspapers, and other documents which had been superseded and were due for destruction. A number of the Times which might, because of changes in political alignment, or mistaken prophecies uttered by Big Brother, have been rewritten a dozen times still stood on the files bearing its original date, and no other copy existed to contradict it. “

“Books, also, were recalled and rewritten again and again, and were invariably reissued without any admission that any alteration had been made. Even the written instructions which Winston received, and which he invariably got rid of as soon as he had dealt with them, never stated or implied that an act of forgery was to be committed: always the reference was to slips, errors, misprints, or misquotations which it was necessary to put right in the interests of accuracy.”
—George Orwell, 1984
