Boston School Committee members resign over West Roxbury texts

Two Boston School Committee members who reportedly exchanged texts insulting the neighborhood of West Roxbury — disparaging residents as “westie whites” — have resigned.

The city released resignation notices from Chair Alex Oliver-Davila and member Lorna Rivera on Tuesday afternoon, along with statements from them both.

During a meeting last fall, Oliver-Davila is alleged to have texted Rivera “I hate WR” — West Roxbury — to which Rivera is said to have replied that she is “sick of westie whites” — to which Oliver-Davila said “Me too I really feel Like saying that!!!!”

Insulting an entire community breaks trust & hampers the board’s ability to improve Boston’s public education,” City Council President Pro Tempore Matt O’Malley, who represents West Roxbury, wrote on Facebook.

Truly, the only pizza that gets on my nerves is the Cheese Pizza. Especially when adults order it. I can understand the Cheese Pizza for children, they are very apprehensive about trying new foods, and their taste buds are way more sensitive.

But, when an adult is still eating only a cheese pizza, at 45 years old? Something is wrong with your brain at that point. I mean, you’ve had ample time to test other toppings, and you still can’t bring yourself to eat a pizza with nothing but cheese on it? Grow up!! When I see some adult eating cheese pizza, I see an immature scaredy cat who’s probably scared to get out of bed in the morning.

I feel the same way when I see someone driving down the highway at a speed of 100 mph.

I think to myself: “Grow up and get out of your comfort zone, man. You can do at least 120 … and get some anchovies and onions on that pizza you're eating while you drive!”
