Many of the pandemic-related food price increases are related to supply chain disruptions and labor shortages.
The cost of food at grocery stores that steady increased as a result of the pandemic are now reaching record highs.
The United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations reported Thursday that prices in May represented the biggest "month on month gain since 2010.
The Los Angeles Times recently reported the price of seafood increased of 18.7% over a 13-week cycle that ended in late April.
In addition, the NielsenIQ report recently found prices in 50 out of the 52 food categories tracked has prices increases, with only exceptions being milk and butter.
The COVID-19 pandemic-related increases are largely the result of supply chain issues including a shortage of drivers and line-employees – who for months were kept away from plants and factories in which they often work shoulder to shoulder.
This price increase have also reached restaurants.
Beyond the higher prices in wholesale food like chicken or briskets, more expensive items like cooking oil and sanitary gloves has resulted in larger customer tabs.
Glad I’m single and small. Don’t actually eat much, relatively speaking. I always buy the very best of everything, though. If you have a Grocery Outlet in your town, you can save a lot of $$ and they have some very good organic veggies in the freezer. Good bargains on wine and beer too, if that interests you.
Even my canned sardines have gone up in price.
The headline is a lie. This inflation is not related to the pandemic. This is all on Joe Biden and the Democrats.
IOW-——Trump cause of alleged inflation. 🐴🌬💩
What of the price for those stinky, steamed mussels y’all eat up there?
There is no inflation; what there is is transitory. The Federal Reserve chairthing instructed us on this and we must believe it. As Alice in Wonderland said “I believe seven impossible things just before breakfast each day”.
And the Republicans who undermined Trump.
Pork is somewhat free in Texas if you know the right people and willing to use some elbow grease.
I’ve been transitioning through this food inflation for over a year now. I don’t see any end of the tunnel lights either.
Right. The leftist media can't stop purveying their Marxist tripe. Will the half asleep unwashed American people but into it? Don't know.
A few weeks from now at the gas pump: "Hey, this gas is too blanking expensive. I thought they said the ransomware stuff was all taken care off. Somebody is lying to me."
Blaming it on the pandemic is like blaming forks for people getting fat.
Rising prices is what happens when states increase minimum wages - as they have been doing in recent years. not related to plandemic.
We will see even more increases in all sorts of food and supplies, housing etc, etc if the federal wage gets increased as some are wanting.
Severe disruptions in oil industry and meats industry by ransom ware. Hmm, if I didn’t know better I’d guess it was Eco-Terrorism related to Climate Change.
“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK. That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.” -Barack Obama
Perhaps why the Biden administration is not worried in the least?
They’ve already got excuses ready for what’s about to come
down.
Notice no inflation mid pandemic.
That was the most problematic time.
Gasoline affects the cost of everything.
Just ask your leftist buddies Joseph. They know what they
are doing.
Gotta destroy it to fix it.
......my grocery stores in house meat market wanted 36 bucks for a T Bone Steak for Memorial Day. We ate hamburgers!
Declare jobs “non-essential”.
Supplies decrease.
Demand remains unchanged.
Prices rise.
Economics 101, which obviously most State Governors slept through a/o failed.
Exactly, lack of production followed by strong demand. It’s everywhere and will go away when we hit on all cylinders again. Unfortunately we have a government in place that inhibits that and is in agreement with OPEC that energy prices (which percolate through the price of thousands of articles) must be higher, much higher.
Double whammy.
Government doing its favorite thing, getting in the way of prosperity.
I came of age in the late 70’s.
Best thing about stagflation and the “misery index” is that it gave us the Reagonomics Revolution!
