On Tuesday, voters in five counties in eastern Oregon urged county officials to begin to promote border relocation and joining Idaho.
The counties -- Malheur, Sherman, Grant, Baker and Lake -- join Jefferson and Union counties, whose voters applied to join Idaho last year, in their planned secession to what is being called "Greater Idaho."
While President Biden was favored 56 to 40 percent ahead of former President Donald Trump statewide, these five counties heavily favored Trump over Biden with up to 69-79 percent of the vote going to Trump.
The group, Move Oregon's Border for a Greater Idaho, is behind the effort. In addition to rural eastern Oregon, the planned Greater Idaho would also encompass large swathes of northeastern California.
Last year, a drive "to seek refuge from the blue states" was stalled after petitioners seeking signatures to place the item on the ballot said COVID-19 stopped their efforts.
"This election proves that rural Oregon wants out of Oregon. If Oregon really believes in liberal values such as self-determination, the Legislature won't hold our counties captive against our will," Mike McCarter, lead petitioner, said.
Last year McCarter said that the movement was a "peaceful revolution" and that the vote would be a crucial decision between rural and urban areas.
Any such change in the state's boundaries would require ratification by the Oregon Legislature, which is controlled by Democrats. From there Oregon and Idaho would have to sign a formal agreement, which will then have to be ratified by the U.S. Congress.
Congress has only allowed for such a change on three instances, the last in 1863 when West Virginia was created during the Civil War.
Future elections on similar ballot items will be held for residents of Harney County and Douglas County.
Demonrats and RINOs had better take notice. The pot is coming to a boil in Oregon.
Other areas too are sick to death of the destruction of states by leftist psychos. Sanctuary state my ass! The elections here have been rigged, mail in, criminal and fake since 1987.
I'm glad it's nothing whatsoever like that now...
It appears you wandered off the reservation, Mr. FR.
Are they still selling Old Faithful whiskey at the store there?
Hey, it was a great point, just not on this thread.
All they have to do is do it.
"The Constitution grants general state-creation powers to Congress in Article IV, Section 3, under the Admissions Clause, which reads: “New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.”
Explain how West Virginia became a state.
A few years ago. there was a movement to join parts of Washington, Idaho, and Montana into "Idawasmont."
With Virginia having seceded, the Union Army, which was occupying Alexandria, woke up the City Council members in the middle of the night, constituted them the “State Legislature,” and told them if they wanted to get back to bed, they would need to approve the creation of West Virginia. So they did.
Demonstrating that the secession of the WVA counties ignored the Constitution. But then it’s just one of many other expedient but illegal orders during the 16th administration.
The attempt to have Chief Justice Taney arrested is one of my favorites. Along with arbitrarily stripping Clement Vallandigham of his citizenship. Arresting the entire Maryland legislature. Shutting down hundreds of newspapers.

Amusing story but nowhere close to being factual.
The part of the Virginia legislature not participating in the rebellion were recognized as the legitimate state legislature. They voted to partition, Congress agreed.
Frank, Frank, we all saw what you did, you rascal.
The biggest difference is we are mostly living in each others spaces and are in daily contact with each other.
Shooting a guy that lives on your block is different than the blue vs the gray.
Of course, the target is easier to get to. S/OFF
No, they don't. What better way to negate conservative votes than to bundle them in with overwhelming liberal states? If they let them leave, then their votes would actually count for something. Keeping them where they are means those votes won't really count.
Until Reynolds, states often apportioned senatorial districts by counties. After Reynolds, One-Man-One-Vote became the bumper sticker standard for all state legislative houses. This little known decision is at least partly, if not largely, responsible for the growing fiscal emergencies in many states. Reynolds v. Sims is the judicially imposed, unconstitutional state level equivalent of the 17th Amendment, which democratized the US Senate.
Here in MO, we have KC which is already half in KS and St Louis which effectively is 1/4 in IL. Would be nice to sell the MO parts to KS and IL. $50 each.
