Condé Nast's food media brand Epicurious has stopped publishing recipes with beef in them, it announced Monday.
"In an effort to encourage more sustainable cooking, we won't be publishing new beef recipes on 'Epicurious,' " the company stated.
"Beef won't appear in new 'Epicurious' recipes, articles, or newsletters. It will not show up on our homepage. It will be absent from our Instagram feed," the publication added.
However, old beef content already on its website will not be removed, the brand said, and beef recipes may also appear in its recipe galleries which use archival content that is "lightly updated every year."
The brand began weeding out beef from its content in fall of 2019 and has published "beef recipes only a small handful of times" since then.
Traffic and engagement statistics for nonbeef recipes have been good, Epicurious said, though it did not share specific numbers and did not say what its overall traffic and engagement numbers have been since it began lowering the number of beef recipes it publishes.

Every true Texan knows from birth how to cook beef. Whole Packer Brisket plus one to five coarse sea salt to coarse fresh crushed black pepper packed on by hand in a thick crust. 18 hours over post oak never over 225F cuts with a fork. Beef ribs same same but cut the time to 8 hours or they will fall apart off the bones. Shoulder clod was thick a coating as will stick then 20 hours for a 15 to 25 lb whole beef shoulder.

There are masses of food magazines already, which is probably why Epicurious is trying to grab some headlines and draw attention to itself. Here is just a small sample of recent additions to my magazine site. There are dozens of others but you get the idea:

My whole life we have bought either a quarter or half steer I haven’t had store beef but at cookouts never at my home we have multiple chest freezers in the second separated steel building full of all manner of proteins steers, feral hog, deer of three species, wild game birds,rabbits fish salt and fresh water. Turkey season opened in the 22nd I intended on tag limiting as usual finally found some Turkey shot at cebellas. Texans won’t be eating the vegan rubbish.
I wonder how they figure that beef isn't sustainable, there isn't any shortage of cows around my area.
So, this uppity monsewer jacket and tie to dine magazine is saying that cattle, one of the mainstays of western civilization, is now longer ‘a sustainable item’?
What they are saying is your betters will have beef but due to the climate religion the commoners will not be allowed beef. That is exactly what they are saying. They hide behind CO2 or methane or land use deforestation ect but what they really are telling you are not in the chosen group.
Sustainable cooking in a nutshell:
Beef for me, not for thee.
Have you seen what they’re serving in dining rooms of national legislatures, the UN?
Beef. It’s what for dinner.

They rail against GMOs, hormones, antibiotics, etc and then promote "Beyond Beef" which is nothing but a chemical concoction.
They promote soy products that are filled with salts and chemicals.
They promote these things while telling us that natural beef is harmful.
