Making Academy Awards history in the most awkward way imaginable, Anthony Hopkins won the Oscar for best actor for his performance in “The Father,” becoming the oldest winner ever.
Hopkins, however, was not on hand to accept the award, which for the first time in Oscars history was placed at the very end of the telecast, after “Nomadland” had won best picture and Frances McDormand took home best actress. Presenter Joaquin Phoenix instead had to accept the award on Hopkins’ behalf, providing an altogether abrupt and anti-climatic conclusion to the most unusual Academy Awards ceremony in modern history.
It is unclear why best actor was presented last, though most prognosticators all but declared the late Chadwick Boseman (“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”) to be a lock to win the award, which would have provided an emotional finale to the evening.

The best moment the oscars has had in 20+ years was Ricky Gervais opening monologue in 2020.
I purposely don’t go to movies anymore. I don’t support unappreciative “actors” or whatever they call themselves.
Perhaps the Oscar accountants could be made responsible for Presidential elections. They seem to have gotten it right the first time with no need for an audit. And the Woke Media is not happy.
Congratulations to Hopkins and McDormand for their second and fourth Oscars, respectively.
Nevertheless, it amuses me how the Academy lectures Flyoverland about “giving honor and recognition to new voices blah, blah...” but keeps handing out seconds and fourths to the same bunch.
Oh wait that was true golden globes....

This is why police officers are retiring in droves. The fact that our cities will become far less safe means nothing to these untalented clowns. Why would it? Many of them have very elaborate security details, and don’t have to worry about their safety. Hopefully few Americans will watch this crap.

Ironically, Anthony Hopkins played a black guy in the BBC’s 1980 production of Othello. A miserable performance by anyone’s standards, and he took the role away from a genuine black guy.
Probably held the Best Actor award until the very end to keep the audience from slipping away for an early bedtime.
The Communist Awards is a bunch of scum congratulating each other. It is always a red flag not to watch this movie.
