Department of Down-The-Rabbit-Hole: a Jordanian professor of Islamic law has figured out how the Jews/Zionists control the world: they control the language that we all use, and thereby twist our understanding of things. Endlessly diabolical, those Jews. Jordanian professor Ahmad Nofal said that the Jews rule the world and monitor every word that is said, therefore the word “Zionists” must be used instead of “Jews,” but there is no difference between the two words.
No “difference between the two words”? So all Jews are Zionists? That will come as news to such ferocious anti-Zionist Jews as Peter Beinart, Bernie Sanders, Jeremy Ben-Ami and the members of J Street, Ariel Gold and the members of Code Pink, Noam Chomsky, Richard Falk and so many other Jews who reject the Jewish state, in whole or in part. There is a very big difference. Not all Jews are Zionists. And for that matter, as we all know, not all Zionists are Jews.
And if the Zionists rule the world, they are not doing a very good job of it. If they “rule the world,” why were they unable to prevent the British, who held the Mandate, from lopping off all of Mandatory Palestine east of the River Jordan – 78% of the Mandate’s land area — and turning it over to the Hashemite Emir Abdullah to form the Emirate of Transjordan?
If “Zionists/Jews” rule the world, why is it that they were helpless to prevent the Nazis from murdering six million of their fellow Jews? The Nazis and their willing collaborators killed the Jews in every possible way: shooting them at the edge of pits, so they would topple into them; burying them alive; gassing them to death in gas chambers and in mobile gas vans; burning them alive; torturing them to death; injecting them with diseases and poisonous chemicals; performing ghoulish medical experiments on them. Yet the Jews who, according to Professor Ahmad Nofal, “control the world,” were unable to save their brethren.
They were not even able to persuade any countries to rescue more than a handful of Jews from their Nazi tormentors. America, despite its large Jewish population, turned its back on desperate Jews, refusing to admit them, sending the St. Louis, a ship packed with Jewish refugees, back to Germany where many of them were murdered. Only one country, the Dominican Republic, actually welcomed Jews – some 30,000 — because the country’s ruler, Rafael Trujillo, believed the Jewish refugees would be good for the economy (he turned out to be right).
In Unoccupied Europe, it was the same story: desperate Jews were turned away from neutral Switzerland, Sweden, Spain. Only 10,000 Jewish children were admitted to the U.K., the famous “kindertransport.” But that was it. Where were the Jews who Ahmed Nofal knows “control the world”? Even if they couldn’t stop the Nazi genocide, couldn’t they – who “rule the world” — at least have been able to persuade others to rescue some of those Jews from certain death?
And if the Jews “control the world,” why was it they could not even persuade the British to let them come to Palestine? By the White Paper of 1939, Great Britain would allow only 15,000 Jews a year for five years, into Mandatory Palestine, after which the Arabs would hold a veto on Jewish immigration, which meant there would be none at all. If Jews are so powerful, couldn’t they have persuaded the British to reject that White Paper?
If Jews “control the world,” why was it that during the 1948 war between Arabs and Jews/Zionists/Israelis, all countries save Czechoslovakia placed an embargo on weapons for the Jews, while Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq continued to be supplied with arms by the British? If the Jews “controlled the world,” couldn’t they have done a bit better in ensuring a supply of weapons as they fought for their survival in Mandatory Palestine?
The “Jews control the world”? How have they done since winning their independence? Have the Jews/Zionists/Israelis managed to control events at the U.N.? Didn’t the U.N. in 1949 establish UNRWA, an agency that keeps alive the Arab refugee problem, and indeed continually expands its size, for alone among all the tens of millions of refugees created since World War II, only the Palestinian refugees are given the right to hand on their refugee status to their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and so on? This prolongs the Arab refugee problem, and prevents the refugees from being integrated into host societies. They are kept as dependents of UNRWA, to be used as a political weapon against the ‘heartless” Jewish state that won’t help solve the refugee problem by admitting them into Israel, which would end forever the existence of a Jewish state. The Jews who “control the world” somehow were incapable of preventing UNRWA from providing its uniquely expansive definition of “Palestinian refugees.” Nor have the Jews/Zionists managed to prevent the UNRWA schoolbooks from being filled with antisemitic passages that would not be out of place in the pages of Der Stürmer.
If Jews “control the world,” how is it that the U.N.General Assembly passes more resolutions against Israel than against all other countries? How is it that the U.N.Human Rights Commission has a special “Item #7” on its permanent agenda, so that at every session it must consider the Israeli “mistreatment” of the Palestinians? And how is it that at the UNHRC, more resolutions are passed against Israel than against all the other — 192 — countries put together?
If Jews “control the world,” why did they return the entire Sinai to Egypt in 1957, which Israel had won in the Sinai Campaign? Why did Israel return the Sinai to Egypt a second time, as part of the Camp David Accords in 1979? Why, if Jews control the world, did they ever surrender tangible real estate for the mere promise of peace given by Egypt in the Camp David Accords? If Jews control the world, that surely means they can control the American Presidency, so how was it that such a viciously anti-Israel figure like Jimmy Carter managed to become president, where he put his anti-Israel animus to work in his incessant browbeating of Israeli Prime Minister Begin during negotiations at Camp David? If you control the world, surely can you control American elections. If Jews control the world, why can’t they prevent BDS from spreading its tentacles throughout American campuses? Something doesn’t compute.

The obsessed professor is right about the “Jew” vs. “Zionist” thing. I’ve noticed that many people who want to criticize Jews or Israelis will now use the term “Zionist” in order to avoid saying “Jew.” And, as Prof. Loon rightly points out, the two are very different. A huge number of American Christians are Zionists, while many Jews are not. The corruption of language continues apace.
The St. Louis was not sent back to Germany but to Europe. Some were taken in by countries later overrun by the Nazis, others went to Britain. I think about half of them or maybe somewhat over half survived the war. Of course if FDR had allowed the refugees into the US all of them would have survived.
