Lots of posts on this already here.

They’ve been circling the drain for a while. We lost ours a couple years ago. Amazon casualty.
It’s the natural course of things.
Bender is gone so Fry had to close-up shop.
Danny props.
Back in the day the Fry’s in Roseville California was great. Huge selection and depth of merchandise.
I’ve built 5 computer systems with parts from my local Fry’s. The Friday ads were the cause for excitement.
A week ago I visited what had been a massive Fry’s store. The entire computer parts section was empty and roped off with yellow crime tape. I spoke with a floor manager and he blamed it “Chinese embargo”. I assumed he voted for Biden.
I could not see how Fry’s could remain in business with no computer electronics to sell. The CCP and friends in Gov’t have destroyed a good part of the economy.
Wish I owned more copper, lead and forged aluminum.
They were a Radio Shack knockoff?
The Fry’s in the malls around my way are awful. Very overpriced.
Dang, I am dating myself, but remember ordering build your own computer kits from Fry’s and all kinds of other electronic gadgets from power SCRs to TTL logic chips.
No need for a company anymore that actually sells components. Everyone wants out of the box gratification and do not want to put out the effort to actually build something themselves
I hate to see Fry’s go to. But, to be honest I haven’t been in one of their stores in years. Actually can’t recall the last time I was in one. I live on the north side of the metroplex and it’s just too much of a hike, traffic, etc, to get to one.
The very first Fry’s was in a hard-to-find part of Palo Alto, CA. Maybe ten years ago I noticed that their inventory levels of products was always low. Then about five years ago they removed the high shelves and replaced them with chest-high shelves. Inventory continued to shrink. The whole place shut down a year ago. It was obvious it was only a matter of time.
Now where will people go to look at products before buying them on Amazon?
If Liberals can blame Trump for crazy stuff, I can blame Biden for things... 😃
I remember the Fry’s in San Jose back in the 90’s. You could easily spend a day in there. I was so excited when they opened in GA, then so disappointed when I went in. Not remotely the same store. More on par with Best Buy with the addition of a few odd or obscure items.
Sad. You could get anything at Fry’s. I know the family who owns (used to own) this company.
I live near one. Used to stop there frequently if I needed anything electronic or computer related. If their shelves had remained stocked I would have continued to shop there for the convenience. But they have had a “going out of business” attitude for at least a couple of years. Last time I walked in last summer the store was almost entirely empty and I just turned around and left and have not been back. I wondered if they were still open. It is sad to see them go, but they’ve pretty much been gone for at least a couple of years.
Sigh... Sad days for us computer geeks.
....adieu Fry's I knew ye well....
I remember going into the first ‘store’ in Sunnyvale.
They had stuff to drink, eat, pretty much covered the gamet of tech toys and tools, you name it..
Used to use the Brokaw location a lot at one time, then moved recently and used the Arques store which was always pretty much all parking lot with a few cars in it. Shoppers were few and far between. Shelves barren and large areas of floor space.. empty of anything.
a 21 checkout cash register salute to you, Fry’s. You gave it a shot. Maybe they can use your parking lots for mass vaccination sites.

Fry’s closing no surprise to few deal with electronics and kits same happened to Radio Shack to many hooked on computers and cell phones.
About the only people working with electronics are ham radio operators a damned shame.
Heathkit store was a great place one could even build your own TV and many other items great fun.
I have to say that I really liked their stores and have bought numerous items there over the years. Sorry to see them closing up.
