Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) admitted Thursday that he had planned on spending longer than he did in Cancún, in a spur-of-the-moment trip his wife tried to recruit friends and neighbors to join that was motivated by Texas’ frigid temperatures, according to texts obtained by the New York Times, following widespread outrage over a vacation Cruz initially claimed was driven by his daughters and their friends.
The senator’s wife, Heidi Cruz, tried to recruit friends for the trip on Wednesday and noted their house was “FREEZING,” the Times reported Thursday, citing texts obtained from a group chat.
She proposed staying at the Ritz-Carlton in Cancún, according to the Times.

I’m sure those that could afford it went elsewhere and smart people were prepare which is what you do for any storm.

Federal Subsidies on wind/solar and Federal Regulation on fossil fueled power plants (old plants are mot grandfathered when new capacity is added to them) made wind turbines profitable.
The administrative state gave us wind turbines and solar. It’s almost completely out of the politicians hands, now.
That is the way Democrats work.

meanwhile, Cuomo the actual CEO of NY gets a pass on something a bit more scandalous than a vacation. Maybe under investigation but we know nothing will come of it.
Even the choice of the name of the hotel was going to backfire.

Im glad theres a few decent folks who say “ who cares about ted getting the hell out of a bad situation” ? MYOB! The guy moved his family to Safer location. Ive done the same thing when we lost power for over a week after a blizzard in maryland. And no, he shouldnt stay and suffer. Thats not solidarity with his constitants, thats just stupid.
Well, even Cuomo isn’t hitler. So that must make Cruz really great?
The lesson is don’t fly out of the country when your fellow State Citizens
are freezing to death, have no water and probably not much food.
Cruz admitted his mistake. Life will go on and so will Ted.

Ok, he’s a boob... for a minute there I thought he might have been an eagle scout at one point but there’s no mention.
It is been a personal observation of mine over many years that most supervisors that I have ever worked for in the military or the MSC, or the USNS who were boobs were enough almost always Eagle Scouts.
There were exceptions of course, but it was uncanny how high the averages heavily leaned towards Eagle Scout and boobery.
Wind and solar are nice, like a lap doggie. But send that sucker out in the middle of the night to check out shattered glass in your kids bedroom. ... Gas and coal are the back bone of our nations powergrid. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Those plants were built for a reason, and now they are obsolete?? Ys k ow what isnt obsolete- Stupidity always comes with a price...

Me, too. My wife and I had lunch and dinner with some friends who still had power. I guess we should have done the Manly Texan thing and stayed at home freezing our butts off.
So right ...but to Cruz haters it doesn’t matter. Ted will be just fine...this too will fade.
