Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) admitted Thursday that he had planned on spending longer than he did in Cancún, in a spur-of-the-moment trip his wife tried to recruit friends and neighbors to join that was motivated by Texas’ frigid temperatures, according to texts obtained by the New York Times, following widespread outrage over a vacation Cruz initially claimed was driven by his daughters and their friends.

The senator’s wife, Heidi Cruz, tried to recruit friends for the trip on Wednesday and noted their house was “FREEZING,” the Times reported Thursday, citing texts obtained from a group chat.

She proposed staying at the Ritz-Carlton in Cancún, according to the Times.

If the house didn't have a decent fireplace, why didn't he put something like this up in the back yard?

I voted for Cruz every time ran, but I’m sure going to try to primary him this time. And not voting in the race at all if he wins that.

After the endless Trump bashing, even up to really recently about 1/6, criticizing others for taking vacations during emergencies, and actually running away you’d have to be crazy to not at least try to primary him now.

“He could have sent Heidi to a Ritz in the U.S.”

Likewise, Ted could have stayed home and sent the rest of his family to Mexico, and no one would have cared a bit. This move by Cruz showed great skill in how to TOTALLY SCREW UP something.

I don't know about you....but my family comes first...come hell or high water.

This IS the 21st century. It's not like he's disconnected from the situation. His presence is neither a necessity or helpful. He can do more on the computer than having a photo op standing near a utility box.

The "assisting residents" is Biden's job and he's in hiding.

When I was a kid we lived though a horrific natural disaster.

We didn’t bug out. We couldn’t afford to leave. We had to stick it out.

It took years for where we lived to recover.

If Cruz had just gotten his kids somewhere warm, I wouldn’t have a problem with that.

But the SOB bugged out to frickin’ Cancun while a hostile administration sits in DC revelling in Texan’s misery.

Cruz is beyond contempt.

too many falling for this crap.

Yes, and others, who have infiltrated this site, urging the hate on. So many lies everywhere: We must pray for discernment.

Absolutely. He was packed up and ready to go. If he went to DC or stayed home and sent the wife/kids, it would be fine. If this is acceptable behavior then people have no standards at all.

If he’s on the November ticket and there’s an “R” next to his name, then he WILL get my vote. Not to reward him, not to reward the GOP, but to, hopefully, slow the rate of collapse for the country. But yep, he WILL NOT get my vote in the Primary, under any circumstances. That’s how I deal with mistakes like him.

Family comes first?

Tell it our servicemen and women.

Getting his kids warm isn’t a problem.

Bugging out with them is.

Especially with Deep State ready and willing to put the wood to Texas.

And, for the record, the above posting DOES NOT make you a Democrat plant or a Beto supporter - in my book, what you’re actually trying to do is have Cruz replaced by a conservative who can actually win a November election.

If I’d been his wife, and we’d had someone I’d trust to mind the kids, I’d’ve stayed right by his side.

Texas needs all hands on deck to my mind.

At this point I don’t give a rat’s a$$ about elections.

I care about the people in harm’s way in Texas.

Who forced Texas to go wind and solar? Anne Richards? That was the last democrat as governor? Bob Kruger the last democrat United States senator from 1992? Oh it must have been the state legislature that’s overwhelmingly republican in both houses. So what exactly are you saying??????

Even more amazing is how often these propaganda articles are being posted here on FR so they can sit back and watch the doggy pile.

Yes. I noticed how some couldn't wait to repeat the crazy, hateful spewage against Rush on the day of his death. We should be wary of that. We have been so successfully infiltrated that it is hard sometimes to distinguish those who are at heart malevolent from those who are merely lemmings.

It’s plenty acceptable to me and I’d do likewise in his place.....his family, his time, his earned days off....whatever.

It’s a hit piece because the leftist press wants to take down Cruz and everyone knows it.

And this isn’t over yet. This weekend could, I sure hope not, but could have a cascading effect on water as pipes keep bursting. The FD/Util in this area can’t keep up with them, still 4-6 hour waits while the houses/apartments are being wrecked.

With the thaw coming tomorrow and especially Sunday after so much stuff froze, it’s pretty dicey.

well of late I’ve been chomping at the bit when I see these hit pieces....I spend a lot less time on FR for that.
