Sen. Collins confirms she will vote against Judge Coney-Barrett

PITTSFIELD (WGME) -- Senator Susan Collins says she will vote against Judge Amy Coney-Barrett being elected to the Supreme Court.

Sen. Collins releases statement on Supreme Court Vacancy "It's not a comment on her,” Collins said. “It is a comment on the process of rushing through a nomination in such a short time before a presidential election."

Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski also said she will be a no vote for the same reason.

To block the confirmation, two more senators would have to vote against Coney-Barrett, but Republicans have said they have the votes.

I'm not surprised she'd stab us on the back on this one. She is at heart a RINO, and made it clear that was she was ONLY voting for Kavanaugh because she believed (and sadly I think she was correct) that he wouldn't vote to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Given that Barrett clearly opposes abortion, Collins has no such excuse to hide behind this time around. She is not going to vote for an "R" judicial candidate just out of "party loyalty"

Despite what many FReepers (and apparently many in the Trump administration also) believe, it is NOT somehow EASIER to replace a hardcore marxist RAT Supreme Court with an avowedly conservative one, than it is to replace an already solidly conservative SCOTUS judge with another conservative.

History has shown the exact opposite. Scalia replacing fellow conservative Rehnquist as Associate Justice was a non-event. Thomas replacing liberal icon Thurgood Marshall as Associate Justice was an all out civil war between the left and right.

The time to get a hardcore conservative on the court was when we lost Scalia, and IMO Trump blew it and moved the court to the LEFT by replacing him with a Sandra Day O'Connor type justice. Even if he knocked out of the park THIS time around, a BEST case scenario would be an evenly divided 3-3-3 Supreme Court (conservative bloc of Barrett/Thomas/Alito, swing bloc of Roberts/Gorsuch/Kav, communist bloc of Breyer/Sotomayor/Kagan)

I've said before that I think there is zero chance of Trump's nominee being confirmed before election day. If I'm wrong, I'll be shocked and pleasantly surprised.

I will concede that I was 100% wrong on my 2016 election predictions, but on the flip side, I think I have been 100% correct on Trump judicial nominee predictions.

It's not a comment on her

No you deep state RINO. It's a comment on your fecklessness.

Zen Master, who has never been wrong, says ACB will be confirmed on 10/24-10/26.

She will be confirmed. Yertle has the votes.

She’s toast.

Very few Republicans will vote for her. Suzy Q just threw away all of her elector chance to win.

Loser!

Let me add this. I’ve studied Yertle over the past four years.

He NEVER promises something he can’t pass. He was very clear on Obamacare that he would “Bring it up for a vote.” I think he knew McTurd would screw us. But he brought up Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, the tax cut, impeachment knowing in all cases he had the votes.

He not only brought up ACB but has hustled the process with Lindsey so as to ensure she is confirmed on, or before, Oct. 24. I originally thought Trump might do the swearing in (unofficial) on Halloween, but Zen Master says he won’t even risk that so she’ll be sworn in on Oct. 25-27.

I see no other potential noes.

Romney? That makes 51.

1 more? Still 50 + Pence.

What could delay? If Senators on the committee getting virus didn’t delay it.

However it doesn’t need to be before election day, just before the democrats take power (if they do). Election day is a meaningless date.

Scuse, Romney would leave 50+Pence. Rats would need 1 more after that.

I think Romney would get skewered in Utah if he voted “no”.

I guess Collins decided that her legacy will be like McCain's: one last backstab on the way out.

Remarkable how desperate Collins is to lose reelection.

I was somewhat optimistic she would win re-election. After this moronic proclamation, I won't hold my breath.

"How many Reps can we lose?"

Why do you ask that-Collins is a Senator, at least until Jan.2021.

That dummy! Why doesn’t she just abstain then if it’s the process that supposedly bothers her? What a worm.

The LDS are real sensitive about religious minorities being smeared, etc. Barrett would be a sympathetic figure right now

Collins is pandering to the feminazis.
And women who say they don’t like abortion butttttt...
There are too many people who vote identity rather than policy.

His two elections are probably why they enacted that ranked balloting system.
