It would cost more to haul it than its worth.

Prolly right, not financially viable to go to the trouble of piling up, loading, and transporting the scrap. If it was profitable they’d be doing it.
Contactors being environmentally responsible and recycling.
I thought the left would be pleased.
Yeah....right.
More than likely a loss for us.
Yep, the show must go on. And most of the “news” is a TV production paid for by advertisers who pay on the basis of ratings.
Correct me if I am wrong but there has never been a wall so it can’t be replaced. I think this a fake story as usual again trying to blame President Trump.
I agree.
I thought the left would be pleased.

The Left is never pleased.
It is perpetually angry.
Anger is the fuel the Left runs on.
Aint capitalism great win win Mexicans make a living and our side has no cleanup costs!!{
Progressive “watchdogs”...
Focus on the taxpayer money literally going up in smoke in Democrat run cities instead of corroded scrap metal.
The old wall, sure, but another Trump promise kept.
Probably cheaper to let the Mexicans salvage the scrap than it is to haul it off. Especially now that we are not sending scrap to China.
Sounds like a win-win, we don’t pay to have it all hauled away, mexicans make some money and re-use/re-cycle.
What would we do with crappy Chinese steel?
The Mexicans can use it to make ladders for scaling walls. /sarc
Well phrased.
My first thought as well.
Big Media propaganda hit piece against Our Wall.
Sounds rather sensible. It’s probably more trouble than it’s worth on the U.S. side, and it’s precious metal on the Mexican side.
I just hauled a bunch of scrap steel. 800# of it netted me a grand total of $38.
If the trash company would have taken it, I’d have just tossed it in the bin over time.
That said, if you had a large, completely homogeneous load, which tends to pay a small premium, you might eek out a bit of profit with an efficient operation.
At least it’s not at the level of tires yet, which we have to pay to get rid of.
Its probably worth the time for the scrappers on the Mexican side, but not for the contractors building the wall.
