Vanity: Could glossolalia be ACB's undoing?
Posted on 09/22/2020 4:43:38 PM PDT by EverTrumper
I didn't know there's a word for it, but google defines glossolalia as:
"the phenomenon of (apparently) speaking in an unknown language, especially in religious worship. It is practiced especially by Pentecostal and charismatic Christians."
I have a feeling that the Democrats aren't fighting back as hard as I expected on the potential ACB nomination.
They have a plan to destroy her, and maybe glossolalia (aka speaking in tongues) will be their means of attack.
I can see Kamala asking her, "Do you believe that you have the Gift of Tongues?"

"The gift of tongues is real and its a gift from the Holy Spirit."
Please. You can listen to people do that and it's obviously not language, it's just gibberish.
How could you do that? I'm not a Pentecostal and have never been to a Pentecostal Church, but you really take the cake.

Thanks I did not know that. Kinda like scat singing? Cool - I get it. I’m all for it.
My post was merely to point out the enemy’s line of attack. I apologize to any of you whom I have offended.

Very good description. I have always enjoyed Catholic Charismatic prayer meetings for their sheer exuberance.
Now I know where Amy gets her joy and her strength.

The gift of tongues is real and its a gift from the Holy Spirit.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
It WAS a gift. Used to disciple others in their language but one previously unknown to the speaker. Interpreting was also a gift. Both gone. But the concept taken up by Satan in what we see today that makes absolutely no sense and only drives people away from Christ.
One only needs to search on youtube for ‘speaking in tongues’. Thousands of videos. Not a single one demonstrating what actually happened in the Bible, someone speaking an actual language previously unknown to them.. And read the comments from the unsaved being driven further away from Christ. Why would God possibly give such a inane gift? Satan, however, is pleased with the results of his work. And his accomplice, EverTrumper, subtly trying to mock Christians.

"How could you do that? I'm not a Pentecostal and have never been to a Pentecostal Church, but you really take the cake." Try it. There's a difference between someone speaking a foreign language, even one you've never heard, and someone acting like they're speaking in tongues.

"Private prayer language"
Searching for "private prayer language" on LexisNexis Academic in the "Major Papers" category, I found six hits, four of which refer specifically to the two votes mentioned above. The other two uses are both in quotations. One is from a 1994 story (Esther Talbot Fenning, "
Charismatic Renewal: Movement in Worship", St. Louis Post-Dispatch, August 19, 1994), about practices in among Catholics involved in "Charismatic Renewal" (emphasis added):
Charismatics believe that speaking in tongues, healing and prophecy are gifts of the early church and are still available to people who are open to them, says Bonnie Dillard of the
People of Praise, a prayer group at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in St. Charles.
"Most Catholic pastors are frightened of the Charismatic Renewal," Dillard said. "Part of the reason is that they've seen people get into it and go on to leave the church."
Dillard said that speaking in tongues and prophetic utterances also are disconcerting to some Catholics.
"Tongues is simply a private prayer language consisting usually of a few nonsense syllables," she said. "It has no basic function at large gatherings."

I was taking basic modern Greek when the Covid 19 issue started. I had started late in the quarter but they let me in the class. Greek is a beautiful language, but Ive forgotten the most part of what I learned. My Greek class name was Aristotelis. It dawned on me later that my teacher named me after Telly Savalas, because I have a Kojak haircut.
