A Broward sheriffs deputy who was fired for taking cover behind his truck and then driving away from the Parkland school massacre should be reinstated with back-pay, an arbitrator has ruled.
With Mondays ruling, Deputy Josh Stambaugh is now the second fired deputy in recent months to have an arbitrator rule they should get their job back after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony fired Josh Stambaugh on June 25, 2019, following investigations into his response during the 2018 massacre in Parkland. At the time of the termination, Tony had been on the job all of five months: He was tapped by Gov. Ron DeSantis to replace Sheriff Scott Israel, whom DeSantis removed from office in large part because of Parkland.
The arbitrators recent decision is yet another blow to those who want police accountability in the aftermath of what they call one of most egregious cases of neglect of duty by police.
A total of eight deputies from the Broward Sheriffs Office heard the jarring blasts of an AR-15 rifle and failed to enter the school and confront Nikolas Cruz as he roamed the halls shooting students and staff. Cruz killed 17 people and injured another 17.
Mondays ruling is the second time in four months that an arbitrator has said a deputy fired over the mishandling at the school should be reinstated. Just like in the previous ruling with Sgt. Brian Miller, the reinstatement is based on a technicality.

Well, on the plus side...
History can mark that event as the last time that the left supported law enforcement.
8 on 1 and they still didn’t attempt a take down of that pencil neck perp. Pathetic.
This is horrible - Broward County is corrupt.
They want to encourage “taking cover”.
When seconds count...
Don’t they have training on what to so in these circumstances?
“You get what you pay for”, G. Soros
at least they stick together...
One wonders how he will ever be able to look any of the students in the eye.
I wouldn't feel the slighted bit bad if the students hound him out of their school.
↑See how I feel?↑

...
Two school employees did confront Cruz and they were killed. The big failure was nobody called a Code Red, which means everybody goes into a classroom and the doors are locked, which would have saved lives.

Bigger picture on Parkland.
But the Democrats say defund the police... unless theyre our lackeys who let our children die.
A disgrace!!!
Pigs squandering what little support they still enjoy.
There’s more hate for the police officers than there is for the shooter.
The real issue is the School Board and the Sheriff that intentionally kept Cruz from being arrested. These are the a-holes that should be in prison on multiple manslaughter convictions.
They are not afraid to toss flash bangs in a baby’s crib. Also good at watching a man drown. Not their job!
I wouldnt trust him to take out the trash...
Maybe the good people in Broward county should riot and loot.
