President Trump's Nobel Peace Prize nomination created shock waves on social media, with conservatives hailing it and liberals railing against it on Wednesday morning.
Trump was nominated by Norwegian Parliament member Christian Tybring-Gjedde, who also serves as chairman of the Norwegian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Tybring-Gjedde cited the president's role in brokering a landmark normalization deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during an interview on Fox News Wednesday morning.
For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees, Tybring-Gjedde said, referring to Trump.
The nomination drew strong reactions on social media from across the political media spectrum.
Tybring-Gjedde wrote in his nomination letter that the Trump administration played an important role in ending tensions between Israel and the UAE.
As it is expected other Middle Eastern countries will follow in the footsteps of the UAE, this agreement could be a game changer that will turn the Middle East into a region of cooperation and prosperity, he wrote.
He also cited Trumps key role in facilitating contact between conflicting parties and ... creating new dynamics in other protracted conflicts, such as the Kashmir border dispute between India and Pakistan, and the conflict between North and South Korea, as well as dealing with the nuclear capabilities of North Korea," Tybring-Gjedde added.
As part of the agreement, Israel will halt efforts to annex territory in the West Bank. The UAE also ended its boycott against Israel, resulting in trade and air travel between the two countries.
Trump shared the news of the nomination in at least 15 different tweets and retweets with his nearly 87 million followers on social media.
Nobel has about as much likelihood of giving the prize to
trump as it would Adolf Hitler. They’re probably convinced
Hitler was reincarnated in the form of Trump.
Never mind that his enemies are the ones that have adopted
Hitler’s way.
I think as I posted earlier this is a set-up, perhaps to give it to the Fraud again, or someone else even less deserving, to simply read a script against Trump.
People like George (Kellyanne) Conway will need to pour themselves another strong drink after hearing that Trump is now nominated for a Nobel PEACE Prize.
Next, we get back the house, and nullify Pelosi’s “Impeached For All Time!”
Look, this is an award that means nothing. They gave one to Obama simply for existing. The smart move for Trump would be to laugh off the nomination - he’s not going to get the Nobel, and lusting after this meaningless left-wing popularity contest prize would be ridiculous.
Lol. Look at them whining and crying over at TheRatHill.
Bathing in liberal tears. MAGA!!
We should impeach her!...............
I hate headlines like this. Twitter did not do anything. Far left crazies explode maybe. But what is new there.
My thoughts:
1) That Trump was nominated, obviously for his role in brokering the UAE-Israel treaty, follows along the traditional lines of why someone would be nominated - i.e. they helped to bring about some measure of peace on this planet. Compare and contrast with Obama’s nomination, when he did LITERALLY NOTHING to even be nominated 11 days after he was inaugurated.
2) That the media basically orgasmed when he was nominated, and then again when he was given the award (emphasis on “given” - as in, he didn’t earn it), was to be expected because they are completely biased. That the media is going crazy over this nomination is also to be expected, and also because they are (still, and perhaps more than before) completely biased.
3) The Nobel Committee itself is almost completely captured by the Left - and has been for many years, if not many decades. Proof in the pudding is Obama’s nomination; further proof is that they gave Gorbachev the Nobel Prize “for his work in ending Cold War tensions” - and failing to give it to Reagan instead because he FORCED the USSR to de-escalate, and even made the choice of Gorbachev himself to be the Soviet leader much more likely. Hell, the least that they could/should have done is to have given it to both of them.
4) Due to the bias of the Nobel Committee, there is more likelihood of a gigantic flock of flying pigs and Skittles-shitting unicorns blotting out the Sun, than of Donald J. Trump getting the Nobel Peace Prize for actually bringing a Moslem nation and Israel to an agreement to normalize relations. Such is the world in which we live - up is down, black is white, good is bad, etc.
OMG! Someone nominated for a peace prize that actually accomplished peace.
How can we shut these people up???
I agree. Trump should decline the nomination.
Just wait until there is a peace deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia.................(they’ve been secretly cooperating for decades)...............
Don’t.
The more they blather the more ridiculous they look...............
Greta the Global Warming Troll will not be pleased , it’s her turn ,LOL
“Trump should decline the nomination.”
THAT would be “glorious”. He should just say that, considering recent recipients of this award, it is meaningless. Thanks, but no thanks.
Imagine the world with every Trump hater no longer in our presence that would be glorious.
Awarding it to Pres. Trump would make it great again, but the committee hasn't shown they have that much insight. If it did happen, I would support his turning it down.
Side note, the Nobel peace prize was turned down once before by one of the two people chosen jointly for the Vietnam Peace Accord, and it wasn't Kissinger that turned it down.
Yes, the Vietnam guy.............
“He should just say that, considering recent recipients of this award, it is meaningless. Thanks, but no thanks”.
Yes! That’s perfect.
He might do it, too.
