DENVER You guys like data? Science? Facts?
Same here. Love the stuff. Cant get enough of it these days. So check out this Grade A, Hall of Fame, world-class data from the Colorado health department: On the same day the Broncos announced that Empower Field at Mile High will be empty of fans in Week 1, a state with over 5.7 million people had 146 people in the hospital with COVID-19. Total. 146.
And who doesnt feel bad for sick people? Getting sick stinks. I pray they recover in short order. But while its a bummer that anyones ever in the hospital for anything, 146 people is .000253 percent of our population. Its not a tiny percentage. Its a tiny percentage of a tiny percentage.
Its also not even close to overwhelming our hospitals, which, if I remember correctly, was the stated goal from state and city officials when this pandemic started. The objective wasnt to totally make the virus disappear from the earth. It was to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed.
And theyre not. Theyre not even close. Only 1 percent of hospitals anticipate a shortage of ICU beds within the next week. Thats some more data to chew on, also from the Colorado health department.
So tell me again why no Broncos fans are allowed at the season opener against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 14?
Makes no sense. Makes it sound like Gov. Jared Polis and other state officials told a big, fat lie.

There are no doubt plenty of football fans hankering to sit uncomfortably on hard seats in bad weather just to watch a game "live". The indecencies of players disrespecting our National Anthem, the American flag and their own team management can easily be dismissed as no more than an incomplete pass by those true-blue season ticket holders whose devotion to the game transcends all earthly obligations on a gray Sunday afternoon.
How much will sports -- whether played on a field or in an arena -- influence voter attitudes and preferences in the 2020 general election?
I have some ideas, but I'd like to see what other FReepers think who are more tuned in to the NFL and its go-for-broke behavior of late.
People get sick. People die. Every day. Its always tragic.
COVID? That thing is a joke. Its not even the flu bro.
How many are in the hospital JUST for the KungFlu?
Yes,but, silver lining; the CommunistChina virus may help extinguish the now Marxist BLMNFL.
Fan ban? The fans are all for it.
Thank you, Heavenly Father for leading me in the way I should go.
Baseball too. My favorite sport. I no longer watch.
People have been going to football games with colds and flu forever. They play them during flu season. People travel about with common illnesses. They don’t stop their lives.
The NFL is a worthless, God forsaken enterprise. I still remember Rush Limbaugh back in the early nineties telling us how the libs would destroy it through a thousand cuts.
If it weren’t for fantasy football, it would be gone.
Football is our # 1 diversion, so disruption of it will not have a positive affect for coronabros. To what degree I don’t know.
I would encourage to send the NFL a message and listen on radio for a few weeks instead of TV. Money talks. Ratings talk. Loudly.
I hear local radio sports in awe at the quality of the NBA playoffs and how great they are. Ratings are off 27%, as the virtual only game in town. It will get worse next weekend.
I understand that even the National League will have a sub bat for the pitcher in the shortened season.
What's next? Wear a batting helmet in the field to deflect line drives so players don't get de-faced?
If the media was really interested in science they would finally accept the clinical data on the early use of HCQ and Zinc that shows it can eliminate the virus within 3-4 days.
For the vast majority of people without comorbidities this knowledge would allow them to go about their normal business without living in fear. The people at risk would have an inexpensive therapy without waiting for a vaccine and their risk of serious complications from the virus would be reduced by more than half.
Good
Let the Broncos and others put the gun to their own heads
If any of you watch tennis - look at the news. Incredible. #1 guy kicked out of the tournament.
Remember how Rush would predict the outcome of Sunday's games based only on the names of the opposing teams?
Maybe they didn’t want to be embarrassed when few showed up.
Who cares?
Anyone even talking about that former football league is a foot washing cuck.
NBA/NFL should just be honest and admit they are ‘pimping’ form Antifa/BLM and call for a ‘rally’ at the stadium from 1-4 (whatever) local time.
I must be doing something right. Theyre in the fourth round of the U.S. Open, and I didnt even know the tournament was going on.
Yes, as theyre embarrassed to see how empty the stands might be for all their BLM-worshipping.
Why was the #1 guy in tennis kicked out?
