A string of moving trucks was spotted in Manhattans Upper West Side on Saturday, according to Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa.
The mass evacuation of Upper West Siders from NYC is in full effect, he told the New York Post.
Sliwa blamed the citys decision to house hundreds of homeless people in the neighborhoods hotels for the exodus.
The moment I walked out on my block, near Central Park West, there was a moving truck. I asked where you going, and they said, Virginia. They told me, Curtis, first the pandemic hit us and now the quality of life is so bad,' he recalled.
Sliwa spoke to others moving to places such as New Hampshire and Tennessee, and one young family told him they were headed to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
They said in the last month, there have been so many disturbed people in the streets, aggressively panhandling, defecating, urinating they leave the hotels and have no bathrooms to use, he explained.
Following complaints from residents, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) promised August 17 to start removing homeless people from the citys hotels and get them back into shelter facilities.
However, he did not give a timeline as to when that process would begin, according to Breitbart News.
Safety was more a motivating factor for people leaving U.S. cities than the coronavirus pandemic, global investor Barry Sternlicht said Tuesday during an interview on CNBCs Squawk Box.
Theres hundreds of thousands of people looking for suburban homes, and I would say its not as driven by the Covid situation as it is safety and law and order, and that is now pervasive across the big cities of the United States, sadly, he stated.

If Trump wins, and it looks good at the moment, you are going to see some real action. With no more election the gloves come off. We know it and they know it, l hope that worthless rat stooge Wray is gone by end of day November 4th.
Shhhhhh.....
We’re trying to DISCORAGE them from coming here.

I think a lot of these rich people 'fleeing' the city are just moving their stuff to a safe haven to wait out the rioting. When the coast is clear those people will be back. The question is how many are in that class versus the 'never going back' category?
NYC It’s not a toomah!
It's down to East Tennessee or North Idaho for this yankee once I am able to shed the proverbial 'golden handcuffs' here in NJ. I haven't been to East Tennessee since 2018, but I have already converted to the local culture. My wife and I absolutely love it there and can't wait to go back (possibly permanently).
If my NYC employer decides to make my job a remote function on a permanent basis (working from home since February), then there is no longer a need to be here in the NYC metro area. Others apparently have come to that same conclusion.
The empty suit RINO party has left many states without good, strong, wise and patriotic leaders. Hopefully President Trump will attract to him the kind of American loving patriots that built this country.
In 2004 during the conventions, the Republicans had their convention in New York City. What did the democrats do? The s.o.b.s put 40,000 thousand protesters on the streets protesting the Republicans. The street was full of people, you could not even see the ground. This went on for four hours!!
You didn’t want honest commonsense people in your city, now how do you like it.
Exactly!
