New York should prosecute Roger Stone
CNN ^ | Gerald B. Lefcourt and Robert C. Gottlieb

To almost no one's surprise, days before Roger Stone's prison sentence was about to begin, President Donald Trump has spared his long-time political crony from the pen — late Friday, Mr. Trump commuted Stone's sentence. It is time for New York prosecutors to answer this latest assault by Trump on the rule of law: They should ready a state prosecution of Stone.

Bringing a new case against Stone is possible thanks to Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York Legislature for Assembly Bill 6653. Signed into law last October, AB6653 enables New York district attorneys to prosecute what effectively amounts to certain friends and family of any president who pardoned them for federal convictions. Among the people who can be prosecuted are associates with information relevant to a civil or criminal investigation of the president.

And what would that info be? Or is it a case of "We don't know what it is, but we know it's there"? Just like the reach for Trumps financial records. The fact the NY politicians, courts and congress lets all this go on is proof they are all corrupt.

"Gerald B. Lefcourt is past president of the National Association of Criminal Lawyers..."

Well, it is surprising that they admitted it. Lawyers like this ARE criminals.

Yes because we don’t have any other problems in New York that need to be addressed :-)

At least thank God New York City deaths are down to 7 to 10 a day.

And unlike some folks here who were practically bringing torches to build a fence around us when it was bad here, I don’t care who comes here from Texas or wherever.

Florida, North Carolina or whoever. They are not going to be the ones to raise the numbers through the roof again by visiting for a week or two. That’s nonsense

Gerald Bernard Lefcourt is a criminal defense lawyer with a reputation for taking on unpopular and high-profile clients, including Jeffrey Epstein.

What would CNN have to say about this:

On August 11, 1999, Clinton commuted the sentences of 16 members of FALN, which is a Puerto Rican paramilitary organization that set off 120 bombs in the United States, mostly in New York City and Chicago. There were convictions for conspiracy to commit robbery, bomb-making, and sedition, as well as firearms and explosives violations.

Isn't this a violation of double jeopardy? How would New York even have jurisdiction?

I have serious doubts this would survive the inevitable constitutional challenges in court.

“Among the people who can be prosecuted are associates with information relevant to a civil or criminal investigation of the president.”

The first stumbling block is finding the nexus between the alleged criminal or civil event to New York, but assuming they are able to conjure up some phony nexus, their next problem is that the law sounds like an unconstitutional Bill of Attainor.

Stone needs to hire Sidney Powell now to get ahead of this crap.

Seems not in keeping with at least the spirit of the Constitutional prohibition against Bills of Attainder.

Any NY prosecutor taking this up should immediately be arrested and charged with Federal Civil Rights violations, obstruction of justice for interfering with the President’s pardon powers, etc.

and CNN publishes their opinions.

think about it, the FakeNewsMSM is just as culpable as the rest of the coup plotters against President Trump.

once he won in 2016, the whole stinking lot of them had to hang together/protect each other.

lockdown the FakeNewsMSM.

Be a shame if they brought a prosecution of Stone, and somebody rubbed them out the next day...
