CLEVELAND, Ohio Cuyahoga Countys enforcement of Gov. Mike DeWines mask order will largely rely upon complaints filed by the public, rather than proactive policing, County Executive Armond Budish announced Friday.
Individuals who see others failing to abide by the mask requirement should call in complaints to the countys new hotline at 216-698-5050, or file complaints online at cuyahogacounty.us/maskexperience.
County workers will then contact the subject of the complaints either individuals or businesses to let them know a complaint has been filed, Budish said. Complaints also will be forwarded to the Board of Health, and the relevant city or village.
This is not intended to be going out and finding people not wearing masks. We want people to wear their masks We want people to do it voluntarily, Budish said.
If the county receives repeated complaints or cases of serious non-compliance, the Sheriffs Department could investigate or potentially file charges.
Local municipalities and police departments also could respond to violations however they see fit, which could include proactive policing, Budish said.
Even though sheriffs deputies or local police can enforce the order, Budish said theres not enough people in law enforcement throughout the county to track down people, chase them around and figure out who we can go after for not wearing a mask.
People can also file complaints directly with the Board of Health or their local governments, though Budish said the county established its hotline to better allow the Board of Health to focus on contact tracing and testing rather than mask enforcement.
If the Board of Health determines certain places are continuously ignoring the mask order, the board may reach out to local authorities to address the problem, Health Commissioner Terry Allan said. Otherwise, the board intends to work with people and give them time to understand and comply with the governors mandate, Allan said.
Violating the governors order is a second-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a $750 fine, Budish said.
And they’re cumulative! Go for the MAGA Jackpot! /s
Dr. Dewine’s color coded county maps.
No timeline given, on when the color codes will be scaled DOWN.
And Guns, and Gas Guzzling Trucks, and using too much Electricity to run their Air Conditioners, and eating more than their allotted Chocolate Ration, and...
That and more is what happened when NY tried this. I think they had to shut it down. Also, in some other state, which I don't remember, this was tried and those who filed reports were publicly exposed when the data base was hacked and were worrying about reprisal.
The ones with the highest Social Credit Scores dont have to wait in line at the BMV. Other perks to be announced
>>>Excellent, need to stop the virus-spreaders<<<
And the Jooos, don’t forget about the Jooos...
LOL, you almost made me think you were serious.
“Also, in some other state, which I don’t remember, this was tried and those who filed reports were publicly exposed when the data base was hacked and were worrying about reprisal.”
If I recall, that wasn’t a hack. It was a public record’s release. Yep, almost everything that gets written down by a government is a public record. Florida, for example, publishes all arrests. That’s why “Florida man” is so famous.
Same here.
Someone will snitch or just sell out.
Oh look, we have a Karen in our midst.
Voluntarily, huh? And if people won't comply?
NYS is already doing this. Apparently many of the complaints aimed at businesses are called in by rivals. Lovely.
I hope the names of the people doing the calling can be obtained through open records laws.
Soon it’ll be you can’t buy or sell without a mask. The today’s version of the Mark of the Beast.
Require the snitches names and addresses subject to a foia.
..the Sheriffs Department could investigate or potentially file charges.
What charges - if it’s voluntary?
Or out of the State of Ohio. What?, are they going to send the FBI out for interstate phone mockery.
It will be. Depend on it. Rely on it. Plan on it. They haven’t been bumping their gums to exercise their vocal cords.
i
Violators will be required to wear a yellow armband. Second offense will result in a long train ride.
I hope they get enough prank calls and people telling them to goto hell from pay phones they will shut the hot line down. I’m not even sure if you can find a pay phone anymore.
