In the face of violent protests throughout the nation, the rallying cry by many perpetrating the mayhem is for police to be defunded or disbanded.
The people of Portland, Oregon, had a brief glimpse of that reality, as police were forced to ignore all but emergency calls after law enforcement was tied up responding to violent rioting over the Independence Day holiday weekend.
Public Information Officer Lt. Tina Jones provided hourly video updates on the situation on the Portland Police Bureau Twitter feed overnight Saturday into early Sunday morning, including announcing that the city would not be able to respond to certain calls for help.

The Feds are in Portland protecting federal property.
Customs and Border Patrol agents were in Portland this last weekend protecting federal property. They arrested 18, who will face federal charges.

Portland certainly asked for just what they’ve been given.

Just posting a couple dozen 8.5 x 11 pages announcing the formation of a “Citizens Vigilance Organization”, and the police and local government would have a collective freak out.
Bad, incompetent and corrupt government and police recognize that a vigilante organization is both calling them out and saying it can maintain law and order better than they do. It is a direct challenge to their power.
And such worthless government knows their phony baloney jobs are on the line. So they had better act fast.
Instead of suppressing crime, the first thing they try to do is to suppress the vigilantes. Which in this case they can’t do as pieces of paper do not an organization make. So next they lash out at critics of their incompetence. Then the government lashes out at the police to “do something or else!”
Caww, when the boarded up windows fail to keep the rig raff out and the police have been defunded the anarchy will only have begun imho ..... Looks as though the politicians have decided and my prayers are for our President to be Safe .... other than prayers and keeping my powder dry is about all this oldster is able to do .... Prayers for US all
So very sad...I lived in Portland in the 80s and 90s (twice)...it was a great place then...now, like you say ...bad
But worse are having these traitors, full of hate for this country, openly reveal their hatred and purpose to destroy our institutions....but our congressional leaders sit on there thumbs and allow them to retain their seats.
