The lone African American member of President Donald Trump's Cabinet said Monday he would “work” the president on the issue of athletes taking a knee during the national anthem, though Trump has shown no signs of softening, tweeting over the weekend that he would not watch soccer or football if players don't stand for the national anthem.
Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson said he believes that players are kneeling to protest police brutality, not because they disrespect the flag. He added that players need to make that clear.

I respect Ben Carson, but not in the political arena.
Especially not in this. I don’t see Trump budging on this at all...and he shouldn’t.
How about adding the lords prayer to the pregame activities? During this prayer all the athletes can take a knee? Unlikely.
Let them do what they want before a game —— not during the National Anthem.

If President Trump said he supported kneeling before a game in observance of the Lords Prayer they would stop immediately.
Maybe a rousing version of Amazing Grace before sporting events?
If they wanted to make the distinction clear, they would figure out a better way than kneeling during the anthem. The athletes don't care, and Carson is unfortunately being a useful idiot.
Put american flags on their uniforms and helmets and see if its still an issue?
Black people have bigger problems before police brutality. If blacks were so afraid of police killing them you’d think they’d be a little better behaved.

The AP’s interpretation of something Carson said on Hugh Hewitt? Funny how they didn’t quote anything from the host.
"Police Brutality" was not the issue at the time. He knows better than that, or he doesn't want to.

As usual dim-wit americans will continue to watch professional sports and buy their stuff.
If they had a “social protest time” but then afterward, all stood and respected the flag as a symbol of unity that all Americans hold in common, I think many on our side would respect that.
But they won’t because some are Americans in name only and do not want unity or common ground. They will not tolerate differences yet they see everyone else as intolerant.
