States may need to lock back down if coronavirus cases spike, the CDC is warning.
If cases begin to go up again, particularly if they go up dramatically, its important to recognize that more mitigation efforts such as what were implemented back in March may be needed again, Jay Butler, the agencys deputy director for infectious diseases, told reporters Friday.
However, the second wave of lockdowns could be accomplished on a local, rather than state-wide level, Butler said.

If they are right what the media has to say about Trump will be the least of our problems.
Redfield eats spiders.
The thing with TRUST is once you lose it you may never get it back.
I do not trust the CDC not to be political or to have an agenda (actually I do not trust any large organization anymore not to be political or have agendas that I would be opposed to.)
So I no longer care what the CDC has to say about anything.
RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!! WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!
Wasn’t the first lockdown originally imposed to “flatten the curve”, in order to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed? When in fact the hospitals remained largely empty and some even driven out of business?
What is the excuse this time?
So predictable.
We are not going to tolerate another lock down. Maybe blue state sheeple will tho
So I no longer care what the CDC has to say about anything
But thats beside the point. What the CDC says does not alter reality. Either release from restrictions will produce bad results or it wont.
If it does, the political consequences will be bad, not because of what the media says, or what the CDC says, but because of what happens on the ground.
As Ive said before, the probability of disaster after opening is <50%. But it certainly isnt zero.
We’ve hugely expanded testing. We’ve done 24 million tests in the US so far. As the number of tests have gone up, the percentage that come back positive has been steadily going down.
See Philadelphia results for an example (orange graph is positives)

You sound as if you are for extended quarantine and upset at those who demanded to be open so that they would lose their jobs and/or businesses. Is that true? Where do you stand on reopening?
So over this!
Where do you stand on reopening?
Im for it, with my fingers crossed.
Up yours....
I had to work 6 days a week during this lock down and one person in my office got sick and came back a week later. I don’t see why people can’t go to work if they follow simple guidelines.
It's a great question, and a chance to discuss how we got to where we are.
Public Health doesn't make money. Therefore, public health professionals work directly or indirectly for politicians.
In this event, the politicians have behaved very badly. They have demanded three things from public health: 1) Tell me how to have zero cases. 2) Promise that no one will be mad or sad. 3) Promise when I decide to "reopen", no one will become mad or sad.
This is really unprecedented. When I was 2 and 4 years old, there were huge polio epidemics in the US. Thousands of children died, tens of thousands were disabled.
The politicians of the day did not demand plans for perfect safety.
Even here, people who support "reopening" DEFEND their positions by saying, over and over as if it would make it true, that nothing will happen, that it's perfectly safe, that people who say it isn't safe are corrupt, or liars, or being paid by George Soros, and so on.
The fact is, NO ONE KNOWS what will happen with increased social interaction. Anyone who says they know is lying or doesn't understand the issues.
And the facts in the previous paragraph do not depend on CDC's credibility, or Fauci's, or Birx's, or Donald Trump's, or Nancy Pelosi's. NO ONE KNOWS.
So, to answer your question - we have to let people go back to work. But we have to do so in the knowledge that the COVID problem could get a lot worse.
And the problem with THAT is that this is not the America of the 1950s. No one blamed Harry Truman or Dwight Eisenhower for their child dying or being paralyzed by a simple virus.
But if we have out of control COVID in August or September (10%-30% chance IMO) Donald Trump and what he represents is finished. And that's one of the potential costs I never hear about from reopeners.
Are they still around?
F* them to hell if they even bring up lock down. Lock their sorry, inaccurate and lying @sses up for treason.
There is ZERO chance the people will tolerate or accept re-instating the lockdowns. None whatsoever. Most people are saying “I’ll get it, get over it, and get on with life.”
Oldsters like us can take extra precautions as personally desired and appropriate.
