Prior to going in, there has to be well publicized and documented instances of lawlessness that includes rape, beatings and unlawful imprisonment or kidnapping. then Trump will have the moral high ground. People must realize that those SWAT teams are saving real people.
That is until their cell phones quit working and they actually have to start producing something to survive.
My parents’ generation fought in WW2. My generation grew up loving the flag, but then Vietnam happened and many turned into anti-establishment hippies.
The anarchists of today are the children of the Vietnam era parents.

CNN Viewer: What Portland autonomous zone? CNN has never mentioned it before. I need to google this to find out what is going on.

Then he needs to stop threatening to intervene. Let the governors deal with it, fail and then pick up the pieces.

No, just as angry about Seattle as anyone. But FReepers often ask questions out of sincerity and/or are famous for sarcasm, so dont be so quick to go off on someone unless you know he is trolling you. And dont be so thin skinned. I would know what what CHAZ was either if it hadnt been featured on TV last night, and not all of us are glued to the TV.
I think he’d have a pretty good case for federal intervention on the basis that people’s civil rights are being violated. Granted, probably lost of the flakes in this area are probably fine with that - I read that Capitol Hill was a wealthy, mostly gay area - but there must be somebody there who’s not cool with imprisonment, seizure of assets, suspension of the rule of law, enforcement by armed warlords, etc.
If he lets this go, it’s certainly going to lead to more takeovers of areas and eventually a whole city. But he should stop tweeting threats and have a plan.
I realize it’s possible that he has already talked to the governor and worked things out, but mostly it seems like empty threats.
Barr threatened to sue state governors or local officials for civil rights violations during the lockdown in the repressive Dem states. I think this did prompt a couple of local suits where the officials were forced to back down, but on the whole, the DOJ didn’t do much. I think this emboldened the left, and letting part of Seattle be taken over by anarchists is certainly going to embolden them even more.
I haven’t watched TV news in years.
Neither do the under 35’s.
I’m pretty sure that President Trump will not intervene.

The Dems desperately want a Kent State moment. I’m sure Trump knows that but saying he’s going to take back the city is just posturing and pointless since he’s not going to do it. Saying stuff like this damages his credibility IMO.
That said, a lot of these rioters and vandals travel across state lines. This gives the DOJ the right, if not the obligation, to go after them according to their own mission statement:
“To enforce the law and defend the interests of the United States according to the law; to ensure public safety against threats foreign and domestic; to provide federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime; to seek just punishment for those guilty of unlawful behavior; and to ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans.”
If Trump is going to say anything he should direct do-nothing Barr to put down his bagpipes, fulfill the department’s stated mission, and arrest these criminals.
The entire State is in a state of revolt, U.S. troops need to be sent and reestablish U.S. authority. Democrats have always been traitors, just like they were in 1860.
