George Floyd had ‘violent criminal history’: Minneapolis police union chief

The head of the Minneapolis police union says George Floyd’s “violent criminal history” needs to be remembered and that the protests over his death are the work of a “terrorist movement.”

“What is not being told is the violent criminal history of George Floyd. The media will not air this,” police union president Bob Kroll told his members in a letter posted Monday on Twitter.

Floyd had landed five years behind bars in 2009 for an assault and robbery two years earlier, and before that, had been convicted of charges ranging from theft with a firearm to drugs, the Daily Mail reported.

Exactly. The proper way to punish criminal wrongs is arrest and prosecution, not what happened to Floyd.

And the proper way to punish the cop is an arrest and a fair trial not a riotous mob

[[Fentanyl causes 50,000 deaths a year in the US. ]]

Exactly- although we don’t know at this point how much fentanyl- he also apparently was high on meth and possibly alcohol too from what I’ve heard- plus he had serious heart problems- plus he struggled in back of cruiser (there’ video of it on youtube-) before he was out of cruiser and collapsed on ground- it’s very likely the struggle caused a heart attack- there’s even some question as to whether or not a heart attack was already happening before he was put in cruiser because the dude was complaining he couldn’t breath even before cuffs were on him

[[I’ve seen that suggested but the autopsy’s toxicology screen is still pending.]]

It’s out- fentanyl and meth- and i think alcohol too- but not sure on the alcohol- saw it mentioned by a psoter- but do know tox report said the drugs were present- -

There you go with the murder thing again.

Do you know what fentanyl intoxication is?

We now have dueling autopsies

Biden's autopsy ruled the death a homicide. Hennepin County Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide. No dueling autopsies. I doubt there will be a third, forth and fifth autopsy. They agree.

Did you find fentanyl in the deceased during your examination? I’ll be you didn’t. Did I see a cop kill a handcuffed man? I sure as shit did.

Wordy reply there gw. There is, as always, more to this story. Let the investigation find, then tell us, what really was going down. My guess.. the two were involved in drug dealing or some other unlawful business.

Leave the civil rights out of this. Color of Authority is a better fit.

Assuming this claim is true the cop still appears to have been seriously negligent. But,again assuming it’s true,it could lower the criminal (and moral) culpability to some degree of “negligence” (”Negligent Homicide”,for example) rather than flat out “murder”.

Actually, a “violent criminal history” is relevant to how police handle suspects, as it should be. When they run plates or a license, the information they receive back informs them of the possible risks of harm to themselves or the public.

The toxicology screen is still pending. If fentanyl,or any other type of depressant,is found that would be significant. If meth, coke,or any other kind of stimulant is found, that would be *very* significant.

Ummm ... The justification for lethal force against Martin was from other factors.

One mans citizens arrest is another’s unlawful imprisonment.

The issue will be depraved indifference, which supports a murder charge. I doubt he’ll claim negligence, the warnings by bystanders and I believe one leo, coupled with his lack of movement and fluid discharge would argue against that.

Fentanyl intoxication.
Heart attack
Meth.

Which one killed him the most?

“””””The updated report states that on May 25, George Floyd experienced a cardiopulmonary arrest while being restrained by a law enforcement officer(s).
The new Medical Examiner’s report also notes other significant conditions such as arteriosclerotic and hypertensive heart disease; fentanyl intoxication; and recent methamphetamine use.”””””

Nothing will be significant. There isn’t a jury on Earth that would watch the video and acquit.

That's right.I recently got an LTC...my first one.In my state (very,*very* anti 2nd Amendment) you've got to jump through more hoops than you can imagine.Among other things my car,and my license plates, are surely flagged with an “LTC” flag so if a cop pulls me over for a broken tail light he's sure to approach me at least slightly differently (and maybe very differently) than he would without that flag.

no they don’t agree- first one said no asphyxiation- a very important key point- baden said asphyxiation- Intent plays a huge part in trials- as does ‘reckless endangerment’ and ‘willful disregard’ or ‘depraved indifference’ to life- or something like that- - IF the prosecution can show intent, then he’s going to do more time than if it’s reduced to something like negligent homicide because the prosecution can’t make a case for willful endangerment

There’s a lot that will be brought out in court- and the two conflicting autopsy results for ‘asphyxia’ will play a part- The prosecution has ot prove willful intent to kill if they want maximum sentence- The claim of No Asphyxia vs ‘Asphyxia’ will be brought out in court-

No it doesn’t but they will now go after him and his family with a vengeance just for pointing it out.

“What is not being told is the violent criminal history of George Floyd. The media will not air this,” police union president Bob Kroll told his members in a letter posted Monday on Twitter

And this clown' s statement is what creates DIVISION between the "rank & file" and the American public.

True or not... what the public perceived in the VIDEO that nearly everyone has watched is... whatever the George Floyd was guilty of or not... he was MURDERED by a POLICE OFFICER, with 10 previous complaints of brutality against him, who kept his knee on a handcuffed prisoner long after he was incapacitated and already in custody.

If it had happened to YOU I would bet dollars to donuts your family would already have a fleet of lawyers to "right the wrong."

The fact that the police union chooses to circle the wagons around the officer is WHY the public will be angered further.

The union taking this stance, which is usually where they land, ONLY creates further DIVISIVENESS and makes the public believe that the police ALWAYS think they're right.

And we KNOW that's NOT TRUE!

WHY?... because "no one is above the law"... especially the police themselves.

Sounds like the type of union leader I despise. The kind that defend the worst POS simply because they are in the Union. Teacher unions are full of these guys.

Depends on what the charge is.If I was a juror and, only having that video as evidence and the charge being 1st degree murder I'd absolutely vote not guilty. And when making my opinion clear I'd tell my fellow jurors "hey, I can vote guilty on *some* kind of charge, but not murder".

IIRC juries are sometimes given an option to vote guilty on a charge less serious that the main one.Second degree murder vs first degree for example.

Unless there's something I don't know the cop is guilty of *some* kind of crime.I just don't exactly *which* crime at this time.Any criminal history (if any) the dead guy had and the final result of the drug screen are two things I'd very much like to know.
