Mothers Day has shaped up to have the lowest reported number of new coronavirus-related deaths in the United States since March 31 and the fewest new cases since March 30. There were 793 new deaths reported as of Sunday evening and 20,693 new cases, according to The Washington Posts tracking of numbers from state and county health departments. Numbers have typically dipped on weekends. But the latest totals still stand out as leaders look for positive trends and turn toward reopening a devastated economy, amid worries that the virus could resurge. Last Sunday had a reported 25,429 new cases and 1,381 deaths.

Delayed reporting. Tomorrow it will be spiking.
Just like the stock market...up and down.
Yes eyore... for a national emergency apparently health departments take the weekend off. However looking at the last 3 spikes on Tuesday and Wednesday when the bureaucrats actually work....the numbers descend on each peak. We are clearly on the downside despite the handwringing of the MSM
WELL PAST TIME TO REOPEN
Yup - just like ballot boxes, once the dems have flipped enough deaths to covid-19 the numbers will go up or down depending on the message they want to send that day.
Don’t know about spiking but Worldometer only reported 34 NY deaths but Cuomo reported 207 this morning. Also tomorrow’s numbers will still be the weekend as they will be Sunday’s. It would help if the states could release their previous day numbers within a three hour window. Say 1600 to 1900 Zulu the following day.
And the handwringing of many on FR!
New Cases: 20,320 Fatalities: 747 Recoveries: 18,256 Resolved Cases: 19,003 New Active Cases: 1,317 (+00.13%)
We all know Mom’s know best. Plenty of sleep, get some sunshine, gargle with warm salt water, eat your fruit and vegetables and et voila! Numbers are down.
Time for everyone to MAN UP and get back to work. Throw away the masks and throw away the FEAR. And make China pay.
eyore
lol!!!!!!
Would have had to own one to throw it away :)
Borrowed one once to go into CVS on staten island.
almost NO ONE had one on.
I said screw this and that was the first and last time.
Apparently, staten island cops don’t care nearly as much about enforcement as de blasio and cuomo do.
Cause I’ve seen them in delis and drug stores and gas stations and they have never said a word.
maybe they know our 2 “leaders” are complete morons
Many state sites have a predictable weekly cycles of “new cases” spiking on Mondays and declining throughout the week, hitting the lows on Saturdays and Sundays when (surprise, surprise) most testing places are closed or on greatly reduced hours.
Figures lie and liars figure.
This is NOT about “your health” (Thanks, Grampa Dave!)
Sadly I fear you may be right, but I still hope for the best. If the President’s internal data is correct, we should be seeing some significant slowing soon. We’ve already lost far too many people to this terrible disease. Thanks again, China! There needs to be consequences for their lying, deceiving, delaying, and denying.
Hope you’re right. Just worried they’ll start a new round of “WEAR YOUR MASK” crap. Hate it.
This is NOT about your health!
Yes
WELL PAST TIME TO REOPEN!
Thanks! For being on the front line in this undeclared war.
What % of your fellow doctors and front line RN’s feel the same way.
This bs is not about our health!
Sheltering and cowering in place can kill you and your loved ones!:
Heather Mac Donald, the Thomas W. Smith Fellow at the Manhattan Institute, writing in the Hill:
On Wednesday, Cuomo announced the shocking news that 84 percent of all hospital admissions were either people sheltering at home or nursing home residents. He shouldnt have been surprised. The risk of coronavirus infection occurs overwhelmingly indoors. Researchers in China identified only one outdoor outbreak of infection among over a thousand cases studied.
Most transmissions occurred at home, rendering the close-down-all-businesses-and-shelter-in-place rule contraindicated.
