The CARES Act, the $2 trillion coronavirus emergency relief bill that serves as Phase Three of Congress's coronavirus relief efforts, has passed the House of Representatives. It is the largest stimulus package in U.S. history and aims to provide funding for hospitals, and targeted relief for small businesses. The successful vote comes after hours of cantankerous debate, in which one unhinged Democratic representative was ruled " out of order " on the House floor.
Once the measure finally passed, the entire House erupted - in a positive way.
WOW and just like that, the motion is adopted.
Entire House on its feet.
Have not seen unity like this on a major, tough bill in a long long time.
The monumental vote was emphasized by the following photo. It's not often we see scenes like this.
(Excerpt) Read more at townhall.com ...
“Take out a loan for $3 million, pay interest of about $35k and with loan principal forgiven make almost $3 million over the next three months...even if we dont need it.
Is this a great country or what????”
Certainly said Business needs to document the expenditures, no?
“President Trump only wants him thrown out of the party.
Getting soft in his golden years.”
Now THAT was funny.
Personally I have empathy for the congressional budget hawks. Its got to be causing huge cognitive dissonance to vote for the greatest expansions of government spending in the nation’s history.
Yes, I’d like to know this too.
Jane, do you have a link on the Vote by Mail being removed from the bill? Where did you read/hear/see this?
Yo Nero, this is the first National Emergency of its kind in the nation’s history.
Pandemic. Let us all thank our ChiCom friends.
Let it just be noted that @RepThomasMassie is the guy who got the $4 billion Mandatory National Vote By Mail for November's election out of the Stimulus bill.
The Corporate lobbyists, sorry I mean Republicans, don't really care about winning the election, as I learned this week— Patrick Howley (@HowleyReporter) March 27, 2020
Also, Rep Massie has a string of tweets, discussing this pork bill. Here is just one, from that string...
(8/11) This bill creates even more secrecy around a Federal Reserve that still refuses to be audited. It allows the Federal Reserve to make decisions about who gets what, how much money well print. With no transparency.— Thomas Massie (@RepThomasMassie) March 27, 2020
And when President Trump signs this bill, it becomes, for better or worse, his bill.
I would think so. I’m just surprised there is no needs test.
Does anyone have a Washington to Human translator, please?
Nancy is an evil witch, but she is also a skilled parliamentarian, which is why she has lasted so long. It is almost certain that had 216 Reps for a quorum there or enroute so they could vote today.
She ain’t stupid, which is why she is such a pain in the a—.
Great!!!
I’m getting my own tax money back!!!
Not complaining, though. Wife’s medical bills are piling up. It’ll help. A lot.
John Boehner
Will “ensure that bills are debated and discussed in the public square by publishing the text online for at least three days before coming up for a vote in the House of Representatives.”
I could not find the bill online, did you?
The state must send a full accounting of how they used the funds "to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus". Any funds not used must be returned by 12/31/2020.
Miami media too busy to carry Trump signing the bill. Would rather carry on the fear mongering.
Well said!
The Chairman of the Communist Party of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping and the President of the United States had a telephone conversation last night.
“Trump strikes conciliatory tone with China’s Xi on coronavirus call
The leaders of the world’s two biggest economies made a bid to dial down tensions over the pandemic in a late night call.”

Rep Massie. I salute your effort. This bill is a huge boondoggle that will do very little for the US economy. 350 million for illegals. Millions and millions more for the Arts and NASA....Did I leave anything out???? How much money do we have to piss away..Why wasnt the H1N1 treated the way this Wuhan Virus is being handled?????
Oh, I noticed it a while back. I still find it funny.
Bernie: Hillary's superdelegate goons crushed my crotch. Then Demented Joe Biden stole my voters. But my bad breath, lots of gas and my hunched back not totally finishing me off has led to America going Commie anyway like I dreamed of on my honeymoon. Long Live Lenin. Long Live Marx. Long Live Me!
give it a rest
Like Socialism itself, Keynesian economics ("government spending 'stimulates' the economy") has long since been debunked, but like socialism keeps getting dug up and walks around like the walking dead.
Don't you notice almost no opposition from the Left on this??? That should tell you a lot right there. The Left LOVES the walking dead. They are all about death.
We DON'T need more government ("stimulus spending"). We need MUCH LESS government.TAX CUTS and CUTS IN GOVERNMENT SIZE.
Then you'll have the fight of your life from the Left because THAT will truly launch the economy into the stratosphere and strengthen America economically -- exactly what the Left doesn't want becsue the Left hates America.
This is a very sad thing here. Political expediency at the cost of true recovery. And Trump participating in it. Very sad.
How do we recover form this stupidity? Only one way.
CUT TAXES AND CUT GOVERNMENT!
THAT is where the battle is but it is the good fight of faith and freedom.
