As the novel coronavirus causing COVID-19 spreads across the globe, with cases surpassing 284,000 worldwide today (March 20), misinformation is spreading almost as fast.
One persistent myth is that this virus, called SARS-CoV-2, was made by scientists and escaped from a lab in Wuhan, China, where the outbreak began.
A new analysis of SARS-CoV-2 may finally put that latter idea to bed. A group of researchers compared the genome of this novel coronavirus with the seven other coronaviruses known to infect humans: SARS, MERS and SARS-CoV-2, which can cause severe disease; along with HKU1, NL63, OC43 and 229E, which typically cause just mild symptoms, the researchers wrote March 17 in the journal Nature Medicine.

It’s not a myth, it’s a conspiracy theory launched by the Russian intelligence services on a Russian website called zerohedge.
Their whole premise is wrong. All china had to do was see the chapel hill discovery. Then start in wuhan their own version to create a bioweapon
The thing is I don’t think they were done perfecting it. It was truly an accident that it escaped, IMO. Two lab workers at the Wuhan Institute were jailed for selling lab animals for food on the black market. That is a fact.

I think they spend up the mutation and ability to transmit to humans naturally by introducing a middleman animal that would mutate the virus so it was able to infect humans. How could that be easily traced?

Anyone else notice they listed SARS-CoV-2 in the list of seven ? If they make mistakes like that...
Secondary reason: All new viruses are the result of human interference. Viruses (virii) don’t just randomly mutate. They mutate in response to the success or failure of their infection rate/ability to reproduce. We produce new or find old drugs that interfere with that ability. It will work for a while, but eventually the viruses will mutate to something that does work. All experimentation with virii in laboratories involves getting the virus to mutate. Even if the intention is to find a preventative.
My consensus for sure. Although I think the order was to use something to scare people, tank the market a little and create some unemployment, oh and just enough to get the the Barr investigations shut down for a while. (Which three months ago, after the impeachment fiasco failed was every Democrats Christmas wish list). But the Wuhan was deadlier than they bargained for.
China’s wish list would have been to get the protesters off the streets, stop the tariff negotiations, and keep Trump from being re-elected.
Did our own CDC mutate a virus and a CIA agent plant it outside the lab in China? The timing is very suspect, Russia and Impeachment didn’t work. We have to shut down Trump’s Rallies, but how - a Pandemic - we are desperate! Don’t forget the CDC Director of Respiratory Diseases is Nancy Messonnier a sister of Rod Rosenstein.
I’m not a microbiologist so I’ll reserve judgment on this.
From what I’ve read there are certain markers they can identify to detect whether organisms have been monkeyed with in a lab or not.
Either they’ve investigated and found none, or the ChiComs know Trump now has ‘em by the shorthairs and Art of the Deal is taking place.

I wonder, too. If they wanted to full blown, doomsday infect the world, they kind of sucked at it. (It’s infected..but not that many people dying). If they wanted to just kinda scare people, they sucked at that, too. Those Chinese can’t do anything right. ;)

China requires all its residents to check-in with the government using facial recognition daily using their cellphones. 21,000,000 fewer are doing so. Where are they? DEAD. China Virus. That's how.

Wuhan has the only level 4 pathogen lab in China.
Science magaine reported on the risks of this lab in 2017:
The virus appeared within a mile of this lab
Also, just like every other city in China, it has an animal market. The Chinese said the virus originated there.
It later turns out that the earliest cases were not associated with the market.
So that lie blew up quick.
Occams razor says the virus escaped from the lab. If it turns out to be a natural virus, then Occams razor says it’s a natural virus they were studying in the lab.
Then someone starts a rumor the virus was engineered and then that rumor is disproven. Has no relation to the forgoing facts.
