ALBANY Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered a statewide lockdown amid the worsening coronavirus pandemic Friday that will shut down most of the Empire State including New York City.
I want to be able to say to the people of New York I did everything we could do, Cuomo said. And if everything we do saves just one life, Ill be happy.
The restrictions take effect Sunday night at 8 p.m. and will:
Shut down all non-essential businesses across the state, leaving just grocery stores, pharmacies and other essential operations open Ban all non-solitary outside activity, like outdoor basketball games and other team sports Require all non-essential government and private sector employees work from home Laundromats and gas stations will be allowed to remain open, as will restaurants for take-out and delivery service. Cuomo said the MTA will continue to run the city subways and buses and the MetroNorth and Long Island railroads.
We have to do it, we have to be serious, Cuomo told reporters at the state capitol.
Everyone has personal freedom and everyone has personal liberty and Ill always protect that, he added. But everyone also has a responsibility to everyone else.

Wonder if/when he’ll shut the public transport down.
Prayers for NY.
NY State has more cases right now than the next 14 states added together.
Wonder if/when hell shut the public transport down.
Prayers for NY.
Political move. Same thing in Cali.
Let’s see how that works when taxes are due and there’s none there from businesses that failed and folks out of a job; there’s city, county and state taxes.
Doesn’t sound too bad. The peons have to fill out a form to get permission to go outside in France.
DHS allowed Iranians to enter.
#### this state.
I’m out of here as soon as this nightmare ends
Yep.
I can see a LIVE shot of the B’lynn Bridge, on OANN news breaks.
Even the cars are social distancing....like hundreds of feet.
Really shocking to see the city shut down, like this.
The buses and trains can be vectors, for hours. Hopefully, they’ll shut down, soon. I know that’s a dire call, in a place that MILLIONS have no other means of transport....but, it will serve to keep them from spreading.
This is the most comforting thing he said. It tells me he's hedging his bets and preparing for a scenario where this apocalyptic pandemic turns out to be no more serious than a bad flu season. He already has his excuse prepared, when he's inevitably asked why he handled this like it was Noah's Flood.
NY I think is a huge Chinese destination for visiting- plus there is a huge Chinese population there too- likely many who go back to the mainland often to visit family- plus it has loads of ports where Chinese ships dock with products- plus the fact that their city streets are elbow to elbow jam packed in lots of places- at certain times- Saw a map of cases in NY and looked like the less populated upstate had very few cases still
Because of the restrictions?
Every state will soon have similar, during this outbreak.
Where will you go?
More testing kits mean more positive(and negative) results. It hasnt increased we just have a better handle on how many are sick.
I am surprised they haven’t done what they did in London—with critical personnel only permitted to ride.
Liquor stores and the media deemed essential.
Yes, destroy the economy over one person who would probably die anyway regardless of the virus type. This is always the excuse used by those that crave power.
Y’all need to move down South. Would love to have ya’!
Build a wall around NY City.
Paging Kurt Russell.
