You may be sexy and you know it. If so, congratulations. But there are some things that you may not know, especially these days. For example, what if you are carrying the COVID-19 coronavirus (SARS-CoV2) and you don’t know it? What if you are transmitting the virus to others without knowing it?
Knowing the asymptomatic ratio or proportion, that is the percentage of people carrying and potentially spreading SARS-CoV2 without demonstrating any symptoms, would be pretty darn helpful. It would give everyone a better sense of how far the virus has really spread, how to better control the spread of the disease, and what the actual death rate may be.
Well, two new scientific studies offer more insight into what this ratio or proportion may be. They aren’t perfect, so take the numbers with a fanny pack of salt. But they do provide the best numbers to date.

One of the reasons influenza can't be contained and keeps coming back is because 5-30% of people who become infected do not get sick (the actual number varies from strain to strain). Coronavirus seems to be breaking containment in the exact same way.
It seems we are seeing people who are becoming sick with coronavirus who don't know where they got it from. That means there may already be a high number of carriers in the community.
Then throw in how many have had it but so mild they didn’t know it and went about their business.
I had a 48 hour “flu” with fever mid Feb. A receding cough since then.
How would one ever determine if one were a flu v. covid carrier?
Only with the unavailable tests.
The data is being taken from only the sickest patients that present serious enough symptoms to require medical care. That is a highly incomplete sampling
Who paid for these studies? This information has been in the public venue for a couple of months. Let’s state the obvious and get paid for it.

That’s the other issue too.
If someone gets a minor case and only has a slight cough and shortness of breath, that is also symptoms of asthma and may attribute it to that and allergies.
We are not testing everyone who shows a hint of symptoms. We are only testing certain people who get full blown sick.
The public official/media response so far has been one of hysteria. My gut and life experience tell me that if the Mockingbird State Media is pushing something hard, then there is good reason to be skeptical.
I’ve known more than a few people, including myself, who had the oddest, shortest upper respiratory infection for about 36 hours. Just barely.
It never got more than annoying and then it was gone.
I don’t think it was this virus.
But I’m sure others did have it and it was not much to beat so they never gave it a second thought.

I had the same thing myself weekend before last. It came on fast, stayed two days, and once it started getting better was gone in three or four hours.

If it wasn’t President Trump in charge right now my attitude would be quite defiant.
The President is not behaving as someone that is being pressured to do the things he’s doing. Watch his daily press conferences. He is fully in charge here.
Something has him very, very scared. I won’t even try to speculate on what he knows. He is not panicking. But he sure is worried.
So, for now, I will trust the President. And do as I am asked. I am not panicking, either. But I am also very concerned for my family and neighbors.
We are not being told everything. As I think it would make the behavior we are already seeing seem like Downton Abby.
You’ve pretty much described the first COVID-19 case in central PA. The guy came home from spring break in Europe and had something that he described as barely even a mild cold. The only reason he even bothered getting tested was that someone else on the same flight reported a positive test.
4 of our drivers were very sick (covid-19 like symptoms) with a long recovery time 2-3 weeks around the second week in January
Needed to be seen by physicians more than once. Was never tested for covid-19 prolly cause they weren’t looking. Now they swear that’s what they had.

I’m wondering if the ones who are asymptomatic have a milder form, and could actually be spreading a milder strain, which might be better for the population.
If you had it, wouldn’t the test detect the anti-bodies?
What changed after that was simply the political optics. In the face of a pathetic, infantile public panic there was simply no way in hell he could be seen as “doing nothing.”
The New York City subway system is still running, for heaven's sake. How ‘effing serious can it be if they won’t even shut down THAT open sewer?
