We are witnessing a movement in real time of people who used to consider themselves to be part of the left leaving it and becoming politically homeless. They have varying reasons for this, but it’s primarily because the authoritarian left has lost the plot.
Many in the #WalkAway movement leaving the left find themselves politically homeless because they don’t see our side as any better. Focusing on pragmatic populism only works for a little while, then many start questioning where we are going. This is why we need to have a set of bedrock principles for ourselves and in contrast to the other side that merely craves power over the people.
This is exemplified by the case of Dr. Karlyn Borysenko who became an accidental political commentator who first became prominent in going to a rally for President Trump and writing about in medium.

Hubert Humphrey and Daniel Patrick Moynihan would be repulsed by today’s Democrats.

Humphrey was pro life.
Moynihan broke with the Clintons on late term abortion.
Moynihan also pointed out that the welfare system was turning from a safety net to a way of life. I think he used a term like “normalizing deviancy”, and caught hell from the rest of the Democrats.
Humphrey was also very much pro 2A

They point out that this was what they were created for, whereas Democrats do that **** by choice. They suggest calling the Democrats by the moniker “Demon rats” as those hellish denizens would not object.
Moynihan heartily endorsed the Butcheress of Benghazi for his Senate seat. He was already way on the left and had a lifetime leftist rating of 94% from the ACU.

There’s nothing liberal about someone who advocates for governmental control of your life from cradle to grave. I don’t like calling today’s democrats liberal either, I usually refer to them as leftists. In reality they’re totalitarian statists who would control every aspect of others lives through government. Liberty and liberal have the same root word Liber which was the name of a Roman god and meant “free one”. Democrats today are obsessed with state control, the notion of “free” doesn’t exist with them unless it’s free stuff for them at the expense of the taxpayers. There’s nothing “liberal” at all about the democratic party of today.

The thing that bothers me is the assumption the person would be “frozen in time” and thrust forward X amount of years and would magically be in the opposition. I have little doubt if most of these people were around today, they would’ve “evolved” (or devolved) with the party.
There’s a former Governor of Alabama, John Patterson, nearly 100 years old, he ran against George Wallace in 1958, painting Wallace as a left-wing integrationist radical (the infamous contest where Wallace disavowed his racially moderate agenda and screamed he’d never be “outniggered” again and would be 100% rock-hard on segregation from then on). Patterson was close with the Kennedys (unlike Wallace), even as the KKK-supported candidate. Flash forward 50 years to 2008 and Patterson heartily supported Zero for President as a “loyal Democrat.”

And you know how I feel about f8888g Truman. I’ll say it again, I first read his speel from 1948 in the year 2000 and it was indistinguishable from Al Gore’s. The only reason he’s not one of our worst Presidents is because there have been some many other democrat pigs who were even worse.

There was something strange as to Moynihan stepping aside for Hilary. As in he was “encouraged “ to step aside. Threatened with “suicide”?
