Fifty-two percent of Republican voters in Alabama favor Tommy Tuberville, while 40% support former Senator and Attorney General Jeff Sessions in the GOP runoff election for the U.S. Senate, a new Cygnal poll reveals.
Tuberville, the former head football coach at Auburn University, will face Sessions in the March 31 runoff.

Oh my. Trump should have never offered AG to Sessions.
And Sessions should have never accepted.
He was a weak AG. But a decent Senator..
Beats me...
Looks like Tuberville for me now...
Me, too. I went Byrne in the first primary. I just dont know anything about Tuberville. Sessions is running ads (or it may be a PAC) claiming Tuberville doesnt really live in Alabama. I dont like that. Ive never liked anybody that moves to run in an election.
Thank you, Jemian, for the ping.
I respect Mr. Sessions’ efforts on behalf of Alabama, and our country during his tenure as US Senator.
IMO, it is time to vote into office someone younger.
I will not vote for Doug Jones.
Therefore, I will vote for Mr. Tuberville, even though I think his name should be spelled with two letters b or pronounced too-bur-vil. ;-)
Why didnt he make the runoff?
Name recognition had a lot to do with it. Byrne is highly respected in south Alabama, but not as well known up north. I believe he is truly conservative and would have made a good senator.
Sessions is damaged. He needs to retire to his very comfortable laid back sleepy life.
We need fighters! With Passion in their soul.
Who can not be intimidated.
If he beats Jones.
Cant elect what dont run. They always appear like they are conservatives, then become corrupted weasels.
Looking at the shape of things...Tubby may win, but I will predict that he’s only around for six years. Then he’ll be deposed.
Even for Shelby, he’s in marginal health and you rarely see him these days. Wouldn’t shock me if he were to suddenly retire in 2021.
LOL! Just call him Tubbs.
I never (at least on FR) heard anyone say anything bad about Byrne. His voting record seemed conservative enough.
Why didnt he make the runoff? Was it because there were bigger names on the ballot - Tuberville and Sessions?
Or was there some other reason?
****************************************************
Simple reason he lacked the STATEWIDE name recognition that Sessions and Tuberville have.
Who minds higher legal immigration? It’s the open borders for illegals that’s a problem.
The hate Sessions crowd doesn’t care about that. The would rather have someone with bad policies than let Sessions back in again. I’m voting Sessions.
I dont care what anyone says or thinks. The man who could have been the gatekeeper against the Russian collusion hoax utterly failed to prevent it. Dont buy it as any form of subterfuge, it was sabotage.
Sessions needs to go away.
The Peter principle at work. Session, a good senator became a butt awful AG. He is remembered for that and that alone. Sorry Jeff, you screwed the pooch.
I don't think so
Yes, upvote you if I could.
In 2015 to 2016 election, Sessions was Trump’s most (and first) strong supporter. I thought Trump was going to pick him for VP and tasked him for illegal immigration/border wall job.
As it turned out, even though Sessions was in DC for years, he was still too trusting/naïve and got himself out maneuvered. AG job was not up to Sessions’ cup.
However, I will still support Jeff Sessions for his old senate job. Don’t know much about Tuberville, I suspect he’s more GOPe type.
Yup. He is pretty good at that.
“The people of Alabama took notice.”
Not enough people took notice, because the dopey Keebler Elf still got enough votes to force a run off.
