Mick Mulvaney didn’t jump from his position as acting White House chief of staff — he was pushed, after falling out of favor with President Trump, insiders tell The Post.

“Mick was basically a pariah in the building,” a source close to the president said.

Oh right gut. That’s why he was made the envoy to Ireland

Maybe he was or maybe he wasn’t. Hard to tell with the old reliable unnamed sources

These idiots really don’t get it. We finally have a president who has raised the bar, and who will not settle for mediocrity. Running our country is the ultimate CEO position. INstead keeping these people on the payroll, he lops them off one by one, and replaces them with someone better-—think Rex Tillerson, Sessioins, Comey, the various generals, etc etc.

The media equates efficiency and improvement with incompetence.

Mr. Mulvaney came in with a lot of eagerness and energy to succeed, but let’s face it, he was a nice guy and looked the part, but he wasn’t very good with the media...and probably not very smart.

With Mark Meadows you have a guy who is pretty savvy with the press and congress. Excellent choice. I think the ultimate Chief of Staff would be Newt, but he lacks the energy of his youth.

The parts I do not like here are “insiders tell The Post.” and “the source”.

Apparently there is an unnamed media whore that loves to tell. The problem is reliability. This crap should not be published unless “the source” is reliable. And if an insider did do this, he should be made an outsider in short order.

Special Envoy to Northern Ireland, a post that's been vacant since Trump tool office so it can't be very high on Trump's list of important positions.

Why is it hard to believe that Mulvaney fell out of favor and was fired? The President is not someone who tolerates disloyalty or inept performance. People who demonstrate one or the other have a short career in the West Wing. Mulvaney qualifies on the second part.

Rex Tillerson, Sessioins, Comey

Come on man. Res wasn't in the same category as those two weasels. He was competent individual who did a lot to push State off the edge.

Mick Mulvaney may not have been very media-savvy, but he was generally regarded as one of the smartest people in Washington over the last decade.

He was a weaselly Never Trumper, never on board with #MAGA. I always suspected he wrote that anonymous op-ed for the New York Times. Good riddance.

Didn’t journalist have to have more than one source before they would print the story?

The parts I do not like here are “insiders tell The Post.” and “the source”.

Just maybe, as a parting gift, Mulvaney told someone who was under suspicion as a leaker this story.

Let's see who else might exit quickly.

Not a WH insider but even I know Mulvaney took on the role and wanted to move on for months. This is part of an agreed move.

It was clear months ago Meadows was taking an important role for the president.

Mulvaney did very well and headed the office through a tough part of the first term. How soon they forget, as in clueless.

This is your typical infighting where someone takes a shot at Mulvaney as he’s headed out the door.

It’s not a surprise and he handled the budget too. That’s a very, very smart guy.

I don’t know why people are making such a big deal about this transition. The reports of Meadows taking on the role surfaced as soon as he announced his retirement from Congress weeks ago.
