Parents packed the New Hanover County School Board meeting Tuesday, demanding for superintendent Tim Markley to be removed.
Many of those parents and even a 12-year-old girl spoke out about the school sex scandal.
This all comes after investigators arrested Roland Grise band teacher, Peter Frank.
Frank is charged with a dozen felony sex crimes against female students.
Its the third arrest of a school system employee on these types of charges within the past two years.
This was the second time this week the board met and did not mention the sex scandal. The meeting left parents more frustrated than ever after the board failed to discuss Peter Frank or any administration issues.
Dozens took to the podium during the public comment period.

Were done with excuses and were done with blindly sending our children to schools you govern where they are clearly not safe, said a social worker.
It looks like things are being covered up, said one mother.
Almost every person who spoke called for the termination of Markley or board members.

Hazel Eyles, a 12-year-old Murray Middle School student, stood in front of the board and hundreds of community members to read a statement she wrote herself.
I asked my mom if I could speak tonight because, although I havent been directly impacted by this issue, I dont understand how you can be a pedophile and keep your job, she said. If I do something bad at school I could be suspended or expelled, but if a teacher does something to a child, they keep their job. People should be held accountable if they do something wrong, and the teachers that have hurt these kids were not held accountable.

They’re government workers. Rules don’t apply to them.
Roland Grise band teacher, Peter Frank...
I guess his focus was on the Organ.
7 years ago the IT guys noticed my bosses boss was visiting kiddie porn sites on his office computer during working hours. It was reported to senior leadership. There as a state investigation. It was all swept under the rug and he kept his job. It seems his boss was an even bigger sleaze bag and he protected him.

A budding Republican.

Oh my goodness, that is 4 miles from where I grew up. I went to the other Junior High School in Wilmington, North Carolina. At my high school. There was a German teacher, who also took advantage of boys. The crazy thing is that high school and this junior high school are only 1/4 Mile apart.
It would have been a good public relations move on their part to tell the public this but who knows what the lawyers are telling the board.
Of course the firing of a teacher is going to be governed by a union contract in most cases even when the teacher is charged with a serious crime. The School Boards hands are probably tied until the teacher is convicted.
If the citizens are sufficiently upset, there is an election in November. Some of them should run for any seats on the board that are up for election or shut up about resignations.
Put up or shut up. School Boards are thankless jobs. There is really very little power there. Most everything is governed by government regulations.
School Boards could take back some of the power but that would mean giving up Federal Money and very few boards would ever even consider doing that.
They could also pull their kids out of school until the matter is settle to their satisfaction.
At one time i ran the transportation dept for a rural school. The Superintendent gave me the creeps from the start, but when he started obsessing about how pretty some of the little girls were that was too much. He was also a crook who stole from the school and let friends tank up at the school pump for free. Last year I was talking to a local LEO who ask me “Did you know you were a suspected pedo once? We figured if A__ T____ hired you maybe you had a common interrest.” Ends up I wasn’t the only one suspicious. They never proved anything.
If they do they had better be prepared with legal documents saying that their kids are enrolled in a private school or being home schooled with an approved plan.
Most schools dont take missing kids lightly. It cost them federal dollars.
Athens, Alabama needs to happen all over this nation.
Let the parents get their own lawyers and hit the school so hard that the school sues the lawyers who gave them that advice.
The first thing they should do is withdraw their kids so that the money spigot to the school is shut off.
A couple of towns over they had a teacher who groomed and then raped a boy repeatedly. When it came out some years later the boy's family was verbally attacked and their property was set on fire. The teachers all lined up behind the teacher and said the boy was a liar.
And then the rest of the victims started coming forward. Seems it was this teacher's habit to pick a boy out in sixth grade groom him for a year, rape him and threaten to kill his family if he told.
The teachers proclaimed that all the boys were obviously gay and he was just helping them explore their sexuality.
This had been going on for almost two decades.
Some of the earlier victims had reported it and were told to stop lying about this wonderful teacher.
Public Schools are the playground for child predators and their fellow teachers protect and defend them.
If I knew that as fact, he’d have a permanently uncomfortable life. Might want to move states.
It depends upon that state. I don’t know about NC but in some states it’s easy peasy.
That might be the best strategy to wake up the school board.
Get a couple of hundred parents together and all walk into the district administrative office together with home school plans and submit them at the same time.
Considering that 200 students coming off the rolls would amount to the loss of at least 1.3 million dollars.
1.3 million dollars coming off the budget next year would be a wake-up call.
