That is a great film!
Great performance as Rockwell Torry’s XO, CDR Eddington. Complex character made believable...
Probably the first attempt to tell the story of Ragnar Lothbrok. Ernst Borgnine was Ragnar.
He was one of many Hollywood actors who served in the military.
Its been on one of the movie channels here lately. It was on like twice in one day and disappeared. I’ve seen it a couple of times. The story fit the French to a “T”. Always find someone responsible for getting their sorry @$$e$ blasted by yet another enemy. It took those colonist’s from the west to come over and save their sorry butts. That is France alright. Blame someone else for their faults.
RIP Kirk Douglas. There are others alive from the Golden Age:
-— born 1914 Norman Lloyd (”Saboteur”, “Spellbound”)
-— born 1916 Olivia de Haviland
-— born 1918 Diana Serra Cary aka “Baby Peggy” (started acting in 1921), she made $1.5 million in 1924
-— born 1919 Marge Champion (”Showboat”)
-— born 1922 Janis Paige (”Hollywood Canteen,” “Silk Stockings”)
-— born 1923 Rhonda Fleming
-— born 1924 Eva Marie Saint
-— born 1926 Jane Withers
One of my favorite Kirk Douglas pictures:

One of my favorite actors (I watch old movies). Does anyone know what kind of Jew he was? Maybe Orthodox?
Rest in peace, Issur Danielovitch. Thanks for the wonderful entertainment - you were one of the best - and condolences to your family.
Typical Hollywood lib of his era, but a great actor nonetheless.
Kirk Douglas was a presence. A real star.
RIP
The last time I saw him, it was on an episode of ‘Touched By An Angel’ back in 2000. He did a great job on this, even after his stroke.
Rest in Peace, sir.
Angela Lansbury.
Loved him in Man From Snowy River. Played two characters.
RIP
Tales from the Darkside?
And on to Martha Ivers, Out of the Past and a long career.
