The Senate on Wednesday voted almost entirely along party lines to acquit President Donald Trump on abuse of power.
On the first of two articles of impeachment, Republican Mitt Romney of Utah voted to convict Trump, along with all Democrats and independents.
Trump is expected to be acquitted in the vote on the second article, obstruction of Congress, in a party-line vote with all Republicans voting to acquit and all Democrats voting to convict

Since Romney voted yes to Obstruction of Congress, he now needs to be impeached for Obstruction of the Executive. After all, they are co-equal branches of government.
If Romney believes that a member of one branch of the federal government can be impeached over lack of cooperation with another branch, let him be held to that same standard.
As others have suggested, Mittens may be planning some sort of 3rd party run, possibly in concert with one the 'rat candidates. They could be hoping to siphon off 'rat votes who don't want socialism and never-Trumper GOPe votes.
People don't betray their own people for nothing.
Supreme Court Justice John Roberts has announced that President Trump has been acquitted of both impeachment counts. That is all you need to tell the liberals when discussing this.
How did you stomach it without breaking your TV?
you’re my hero.
What is scary is that close to 50 were willing to throw a president out of office on NONSENSE!!
That should send a chill down everyone’s spine.
Thank God Rs held together.
Mitch did well with the impeachment and had done well with keeping Rs in line with the judges votes.
Far from perfect but he did/does well with these two things.
Now, like Jim has said, get some rules on the books that allow for Easily allowing the IMMEDIATE tossing of frivolous articles in the senate.
Mittens is done in the Republican Party. Utah, time to recall him...
Unfortunately, I think there are only two Trump-state Democrats up for re-election in 2020, Peters in Michigan and Jones in Alabama, and Jones is already toast anyway unless the Roy Moore somehow wins the nomination again.
If I’m reading the map right, if we take the Michigan and Alabama seats and hold every other Trump-state seat, losing only Cory Gardner’s seat in Colorado, we’ll keep the same majority we have now.
Romney voted not guilty on Obstruction of Congress. And a Senator is not a “civil officer of the United States” subject to impeachment.
Yep -- the same way everyone cheers about Sanders being the likely nominee. Really? It's supposed to be "great" that an unabashed f'kg communist is garnering the support of so many (so-called) Americans? Just what do they think that portends for 2024 and beyond? (hint: nothing good).
Why should anyone. Virtue-signalling, ingrate, phony POS. Is this all the Mormons can produce?
Wow you nailed it and I’ve thought the same thing I’ve seen it mentioned by others..but many ARE cheering it.
Yes he’s probably easy to defeat.
So were gay marriage ballots once.
And being able to let your 7 year old get chopped up to “change sexes” was once beyond the pale.
I’ve heard how great the chick from Arizona is, even on this board. Hopefully this ends that nonsense
LOL I just said almost the exact same thing on another thread. Good grief, the slobbering over that D biotch (here, of all places) is enough to make me vomit.
Don’t give him any ideas.. bleh
Acquitted... wow.
Well, on this “somber, sad and solemn occasion”, as the Botox Bimbo from San Franshitco said upon signing the articles of impeachment, I believe there’s only one word that comes to mind... it’s really a rather somber, sad, and solemn word... and it goes like this....
“BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH... Ooh, ooh, oohhooohhhhoooo HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH gasp, choke, HOOOOHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH grick! cough, cough HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!...”

Maine is not really a “deep blue state.” Trump only lost Maine by 3%, just a fraction less than what he lost the swing-state of Nevada by. He also won Maine’s second congressional district and got an electoral college delegate out of it. If Trump does particularly well this upcoming election, I don’t think it’s outside of reasonable possibility for him to win Maine as a whole, although that would likely depend on third-party candidates and who the Dems end up choosing.
