Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, told Fox News' Chris Wallace Wednesday in an exclusive interview that he "had to follow my conscience" in deciding to vote to convict President Trump on abuse of power, a decision that's likely to lead to serious blowback from Trump and others in the Republican Party.
"I believe that the act he took, an effort to corrupt an election is as destructive an attack on the oath of office and our Constitution as I can imagine," Romney said. "It is a high crime and misdemeanor within the meaning of the Constitution, and that is not a decision I take lightly. It is the last decision I want to take."

Mitt, you should worry more about the consequences when you have to face the Lord and explain why you sided with psychotic baby killers. I think you should worry more about that, frankly.
“Follow his conscience”, my foot. He has been itching to stick it to Trump and this was his big chance. Plus, the media will now cover him with sloppy kisses for his “principled” stand. A weak loser like him could not resist that. From now on, his picture should be next to the word “pathetic” in the dictionary.
Agreed. Utah is already trying to find a way to introduce legislation to recall....not a coincidence in timing. RNC needs to Primary him without question!!!
I hope he suffers 3rd degree burns in hell...
I believe Chrissy wallace gave mittens an out....if he, his family or his campaign staff is investigated, mittens can call it vendetta and the fake news will lap it up.

Excellent petition letter.
Well, a senator who is not welcome in his party’s caucus or any other party’s caucus is in a pretty lonely place.
A person who would like to be president but who has burned down all his bridges to nomination is in a pretty lonely place as well.
Rather than worrying about him, we need to be thinking about this upcoming election and the 2024 election where, assuming President Trump’s reelection, there will be no incumbent.
VP Pence would be an obvious choice.
Another for me is Nikki Hailey, the former US UN Ambassador and twice governor of South Carolina: a younger Republican conservative woman with state-level chief executive experience and federal level diplomatic experience.
No surprise.
Romney is such a disgusting puke I couldn’t even vote for him when he was running against Obama. Took a lot of crap for that. I’ve been vindicated.
Romney is not now nor has he ever been a friend of conservatives or libertarians or Republicans.
He is little more than a slimy opportunist.
He should just quit the Republican party and join the Democrats.
F#%& him -- and f#%& anyone who ever votes for him again after this sh!t.
You might recall how prominent I was in denouncing him at every turn (which risked my account in doing so, as I did it even when he was the Presidential nominee). I have probably written more posts about Willard the Rat than any other subject. I’m sick to death of him. That Utah Republican voters were that criminally stupid in nominating a Derp State Demonrat for a 6-year Senate term takes the cake.
You have nothing to apologize for. You know where I stood where this scumbag was concerned since 2006 and standing up to all the now-gone or quiet Willardbot fanbois and fangurls.
Corrupt an election my arse. romney bought into the liberal charade and he should be hung for it. I will donate to ANYONE that runs against him and yes that may include a demorat
Dems got something dirty on Mitt.
up to their necks in the Burisma corruption
Way back, when Mittens was governor, Boston talker Howie Carr would have Chris Wallace on for a Friday drive time segment.
Wallace was trying to boost Fox Sunday.
Wallace made the mistake of admitting he had a “man-crush” on Romney, and Carr rarely let Wallace forget it.
[That tells us all we need to know about Mormons.]
I know plenty of good Mormons. There are no good Romneys.
He just tore up his political future.
What’s the matter with people in Utah?
No the enormous consequences are on us having him in the senate.
