In what is rapidly turning into one of the most bizarre developing stories in baseball history, a Twitter account alleging to be the niece of Carlos Beltran is beginning to drop some of the most profound bombshells the MLB has ever seen.

A day after saying her uncle was stepping down as Mets manager a full 24 hours before the news of Beltran’s actual resignation officially broke, the mysterious account is now allegeding that Houston Astros superstars Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman wore ‘devices that buzzed’ on their shoulders, that were controlled by a hallway video guy who was already deciphering the signs of Houston opponents in real time.

Thank you - no one’s ever explained it that way.

But what about the third base coach flapping his arms and legs around... Who is he signalling and how does it help

“What? I think you are confused.”

Have you never watched the catcher look into the dugout before each and every pitch then signal the pitcher?

I think that YOU are not paying attention closely when you watch a game on TV.

He is usually directing the runner to hold up or sending them home using their judgement as to where the ball was hit and who fielded it as well as the speed of the runner. This allows the runner to just concentrate on running and circle the bases as fast as possible.

The runner doesn’t watch the ball, the coach does and tells the runner whether to hold or continue. The exaggerated windmill is so there is no mistaking the signal.

In very specific circumstances a manager may call a pitch, such as a pitch out but that is not very often. The great majority of the time the catcher is calling the pitches.

Have tried to respect the Astros as they were the underdogs in the National League.

Now they are in the American League and in the same division as my team - The Angels.

Never thought it was anything other than talent that took them to - and won - the World Series.

How sad if their victory was tainted by cheating.

Hope all who are guilty receive appropriate punishment.

As a fan of horse racing what do you think about 30+ horses dying at Los Alamitos during the past twelve months ?

Rangers fan here. Im with you, sad the win will be tainted. I just hope the hitters were not wearing buzzers. That would be like putting a mirror on the ground right in front of the catcher.

Even with the cheating to help him, Hinch still blew it himself by
taking out Greinke in game 7.

What with W. becoming good friends with the Lying Kenyan Usurper Barack Hussein Obama AND both of them sharing a hatred of our patriotic President, it almost makes me wonder if W. crashed the thing on purpose in a New World Order kinda way (Daddy Boosh would have liked that). /adjusts tinfoil hat

#19. You just saved my baseball cards of Bergman and Altuve. Hope they don’t go after George Springer.

That would destroy my retirement investments. /sarc

Don Larsen just died. I’ve got an autographed 2004 Fleer white border card showing a picture of him pitching (probably from the 1954? World Series). Not worth much but is a great looking card and I remember seeing the game on TV.

Sometimes you’ve just got to sit back and enjoy 10 cent hot dogs, 5 cents sodas and 10 cents popcorn.

I understand the third base coach signaling to run home when the runner is running, but I could never understand the third base coach flapping his arms and and grabbing his hat scratching his butt during pitches.

I played on one bar team, and there was one team that took things way too seriously. I remember the third base coach doing all kinds of weird stuff while our guy was pitching the ball and I remember thinking what the heck is he doing.

Very sad. Carlos Beltran was an amazing baseball player. He played for the Cardinals for a time and was always a class act. I hope that this does not destroy him. No one seemed to care too much about the Patriots when they stole plays by having a spy at the Rams presuperbowl practice. But the MLB is a much classier organization than the NFL.

Compared to what?

I don't know much about Los Alamitos but I will assume that it is similar to tracks I am more familiar with such as Keeneland and Saratoga. Horses break down and most of the time they have to be put down.

The PETA folks would have you believe that wild horses never break down. But they do; and when they do they continue to try use their damaged leg and damage it more until they cannot move any more. Then they lie on the ground until something comes along and eats them.

Racehorses are probably the most pampered animals on the planet. Their coats are not mangy as those of wild horses are. They get the regular attention of Veterinarians for even the most minor of illnesses. If a racehorse does break down, one or more Vets will try to stabilize the injury and try to keep the horse from damaging it further. Unfortunately an injured horse usually cannot be prevented from damaging and injured leg and it will be humanely put down. It's too bad but it happens.

If I were to come back as a horse I would want it to be as a thoroughbred racehorse; and not as one that roams free out west.

But it goes back farther than Joe. The credo in NASCAR has always been “If you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin’,” and that has never changed despite series effort to keep things on the up-and-up.................
