I support this bill on the merits.

Why do schools allow kids to have phones while there?
Many schools don’t allow kids to have their phones while in class. But to answer you question, today’s parents pretty much demand to be able to have access to their kids at all times.
I’m not happy about it, but I think this toothpaste is already out of the tube.

John Rodgers, despite having a ‘D’ after his name, is a most ardent supporter of our Second Amendment and Vermont’s Article 16. He did this to make a point about the insane Bernie Bots currently infecting our Statehouse, and their mad rush to ban everything they despise - including our right to self defense.
Without knowing the context, it’s easy to rush to judgement on a really good State Senator.

it appears they’re attempting to eliminate the accessibility to social media to control the narrative for younger voters...

This bill is actually a response to SB55 the so called gun bill. The sponsor of the bill is trolling the libs by saying if anyone under 21 is not mature enough to own a firearm they are not responsible enough to be trusted with a car while possessing a cell phone. Commie heads are exploding.

I guess social media must be competing with the socialist school system.

This needs to be expanded:
Ban smartphone use at the dinner table.
Ban smartphone use in grocery stores.
Ban smartphone use in vehicles.

I can foresee a law that requires cell phones to be prohibited from sending or receiving calls or texts in moving vehicles.

Fewer phones means a cooler planet. How can they turn that down?

Why do schools allow kids to have phones while there? They don't all.

This would never pass. Adults are 18. They can enter into a contract. There are commerce issues with this.
Plus its another case of the states doing what parents refuse to do.
To: Blood of Tyrants
They forgot that 18 years can vote. If passed, some will be voted out of office. It is too stupid to pass but then we are dealing with Democrats and stupid is their thing.

From a practical point of view it’s illogical and unenforceable. Land line phones are pretty much gone and cell phones have taken their place whether you like it or not.
