Schiff calls for open hearings on Trump's Iran actions

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said he supports open House hearings regarding President Trump’s order last week for a strike that killed top Iranian commander Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

Schiff, who is among lawmakers who were briefed a day after last week’s attack, told The Washington Post there should be open hearings on the administration's decision to strike.

“The president has put us on a path where we may be at war with Iran. That requires the Congress to fully engage,” Schiff told the Post in an interview published Monday.

Schiff said there’s “absolutely no way” Trump’s threat to retaliate with “disproportionate” attacks, should Iran strike the U.S., reflects Pentagon planning.

“None of that could come out of the Pentagon,” Schiff said.

A Pentagon spokesperson was not immediately available for comment when contacted by The Hill.

Normally I don’t go to the “everyone is corrupt” but I am just amazed at how much money is being funneled to the families of those in opposition. A more yucky aspect are those that have GROSS problems ie Ed Buck associations...I don’t believe it is just an incurious media, it is deeper than that. If every Joe Biden story references his family problems and not allegations of bribery, it is deeper than that. If fewer than 10% of those who watch the news have seen the video...our news is managed and Trump is the fly in the ointment...

I'd go one further. Broad policy is reviewed by Congress (oversight, usually after the fact)
Detailed policy and implementation - Opinions - are written by the Pentagon to present to the President
Immediate policy is set by the President

I did a quick search 'who decides foreign policy' and the 'cliffnotes' definition popped up. The bolding is their own. Note that CiC is not bolded as if it's an afterthought. One would think the sense is to emphasize the president as merely an administrative figurehead (or maybe it's just me?):
