BEIRUT (AP) The latest on U.S.-Iran tensions (all times local):
4:45 p.m.
Iraqs parliament has voted to expel the U.S. military from the country.
Lawmakers voted Sunday in favor of a resolution that calls for ending foreign military presence in the country. The resolutions main aim is to get the U.S. to withdraw some 5,000 U.S. troops present in different parts of Iraq.
The vote comes two days after a U.S. airstrike killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani inside Iraq, dramatically increasing regional tensions.
The Iraqi resolution specifically calls for ending an agreement in which Washington sent troops to Iraq more than four years ago to help in the fight against the Islamic State group.
The resolution was backed by most Shiite members of parliament, who hold a majority of seats.
Many Sunni and Kurdish legislators did not show up for the session, apparently because they oppose abolishing the deal.

An all-Shiite resolution is kind of like an all-Democrat shampeachment vote.
Why would they do that?
Good. Let Iran finally take them over and they can really live under Sharia law; see how they’ll like it after Iran purges their parliament.
mount a “smithfield coming soon” sign on the embassy grounds, fill it with pigs, then leave...
Don’t leave them any equipment. Not only don’t they deserve it, but they will eventually use it against America.
Winning?
It isn't Muslims that have made American streets unsafe.
[Nonsense.
The war is here. ]
Binding or non-binding how do we ignore it? Do we say, "Tough. We're staying?" How does that not look like it's an occupation force? If we don't have the support of the government then what's the point in being there?
Will they expel the Iranian troops and terrorists also?
It is amazing how quickly a unit can demob.
He made it very clear in the message he sent a few days ago. “The United States has paid Iraq Billions of Dollars a year, for many years. That is on top of all else we have done for them. The people of Iraq dont want to be dominated & controlled by Iran, but ultimately, that is their choice.”
If thats their choice, then what is our justification for staying? We are not occupiers, and shouldn’t be. Time to leave.
If they don't want us there then how do we stay?
If we have to come back, we'll only be sending ordnance from standoff distances, there will never be another American boot on the ground or another dollar of aid.
Which war is that?
you think iran is gonna do something?
Come on
it is non binding so the FReeper is right.
Agree
How TH did they get in control of Iraq's Parliament??
Shiites are the majority population in Iraq. After deposing Saddam, a Sunni, we assembled a provisional government that was majority Shiite. Saddam's Sunni cronies in government and the military got booted, then formed the insurgency.
