The nearly impossible has now become a near certainty.
After weeks of choreographed indignation by Democratic leaders in Congress and “witnesses” offering no proof of impeachable wrongdoing; despite headlines and columnists screaming for his immediate ouster; and notwithstanding 24/7 attacks from media grumps still sore about 2016
President Trump is not only back in the game, but on his game.
impeachment is starting to give the president’s poll numbers a shot of political adrenalin … and his detractors a fresh jolt of reality.
Recent polling from Fox News confirms that the president’s job approval ratings (often a leading indicator of a candidate’s fate) have swung seven points to the good over the past six weeks. The thirst for impeachment has ebbed.
Most importantly, for those looking for what may lie ahead, the president not only bests every Democratic contender in the most recent national USA Today/Suffolk University poll (plus-3 over Biden, plus-5 over Sanders, plus-10 vs. Buttigieg) but in the all-important “battleground states.” The Optimus poll last week showed the president had taken a lead in a survey of three of these states (Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin), and that voters in all three now oppose the president’s impeachment and removal. This is political gold for President Trump because if he carries most or all of the battlegrounds (including Florida, Arizona, Iowa and Colorado), he will win again.

A “bounce” won’t sustain for 11 months. Come November, will voters still be angry about #shampeachment? I’d bet it will if the Democrats foolishly keep thinking they can add more charges like impeachment is an all-you-can-eat buffet.
What I do hope most Americans remember (and Trump should pound at) is how much time and money were wasted on investigations and impeachment(s) when there was no crime committed (at least on Trump’s end) and many improvements held up in pursuit of a political vendetta by the elitists.

The “trial” in the Senate must be based on facts. There are only 3 facts in this case:
1. Was there a basis for asking Zelensky about possible corruption by an American (or any American) in dealings with Ukraine?
Yes. Joe Biden’s statements, Hunter Biden’s mysterious appointment to the Burisma board. Large monthly cash payments.
Joe Biden’s candidacy is irrelevant.
2. Was aid withheld from Ukraine, directly as a result of the phone call?
No. Aid was delivered within the time planned for its release. Aid has been delayed for other countries and international agencies. There is no direct connection between the two events.
3. Was there evidence of a quid pro quo or pressure on the Ukrainians to act?
No evidence identified. Trump told Vondland that he wanted NO quid pro quo.
Everything else is inference or opinion. They are not facts that can be presented in a court case.
