Pelosi stands by delay in sending impeachment articles to Senate, calls McConnell a ‘rogue leader’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday defended her decision to hold off on sending impeachment articles to the Senate, calling Mitch McConnell a "rogue leader" in an unusual press conference where she repeatedly tried to shut down questions about the impeachment process.

Pelosi spoke to reporters after Democrats passed two articles of impeachment against President Trump in a Wednesday evening vote. She indicated the House would eventually send the articles over to the upper chamber, but insisted it is up to the Senate to determine how the process develops going forward.

“The next thing for us will be when we see the process that is set forth in the Senate, then we’ll know the number of managers that we may have to go forward, and who we would choose,” Pelosi said Thursday.

After an impeachment in the House, the articles are normally sent over to the upper chamber for an impeachment trial, but Pelosi signaled earlier that the House is waiting for the Senate to set out how Trump's trial will be conducted before they determine next steps, such as designating impeachment managers who will represent them. This prompted outrage from Republicans who worried she would simply refuse to transmit the articles, thus denying Trump the chance at acquittal.

Pelosi made clear Thursday that she is not prepared to name those managers yet "because we don't know the arena we are in." As she did Wednesday, Pelosi insisted House Democrats want to see a "fair process"...

All of the “evidence” presented so far for the “impeachment” is readily available. The Senate also have knowledge of the Articles of “Impeachment”. What more does the Senate need to act?

That's right. Senate,DO SOMETHING !

Thats a good theory, however, Nadler and Schiff are only two of several who are evil/twisted enough to volunteer as impeachment managers. So I am not sure thats the prime reason for the delay tactic. I think its more about trying to game the system further, and blowing up any semblance of constitutional order/fairness to the process.

Didn’t Rudy find evidence in Ukraine that Pelosi’s son is also involved with Burisma?

If so, she can’t risk a Senate trial, as her corruption would be exposed.

McConnell told Pelosi that she and her partisan House thugs would not be allowed to paralyze the Senate at will.

I know the Democrite Media is trying to suppress this information, but Mitch spelled it out clearly.

So Nancy thinks she is in charge of the House, the Senate, the Executive branch and I would bet the judiciary. And yet they claim the President is a dictator.

Isn’t this Abuse of Power?

Frankly, the articles are not worth the paper they are written on. She can take them home and sleep with them for all I care.

If the “articles” don’t reach the senate in a timely manner Nancy should sign a deed of trust over to the Smithsonian where they can be exhibited for all to see the polarity that we witnessed in 2019

This is how an octogenarian drunkard with dementia acts when she has painted herself into a corner. She’s like a prosecutor who has secured an indictment against an accused criminal, but refuses to formally file any charges until the jury is selected ... in a court case that doesn’t even exist yet.

My theory is that Nancy has NO ONE in the house that wants to act as impeachment managers and argue the case in front of the Senate. It's toxic, and anyone with half a brain can see that; plus it's DOA in the Senate.

I think you're onto something. Like Rush said, "She's got nothin'."

The process, the process...
Unless she doesn’t like the process.
And she calls anyone else a “rogue?”

Take a step back!!

this is simply incredible what is happening here..

for 3 years the dems have wanted to impeach...3 years..so, they take a phone call, rush it through the impeachment process..(all the while saying: "we got him now") and what happens?

they got their vote...and now, they don't know what to do with it!!

they're stuck!!

This is truly bizarre..

The vote itself created the legal state of impeachment, regardless of whatever Democrat-created BS documentation that preceeded it.

The Senate should begin deliberations on the state of impeachment that was created as a consequence of the vote.
