Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill say local police who do not enforce gun control measures likely to pass in Virginia should face prosecution and even threats of the National Guard.
After November's Virginia Legislature elections that led to Democrats taking control of both chambers, the gun control legislation proposed by some Democrats moved forward, including universal background checks, an “assault weapons” ban, and a red flag law.
Legal firearm owners in the state, however, joined with their sheriffs to form Second Amendment sanctuary counties, which declare the authorities in these municipalities uphold the Second Amendment in the face of any gun control measure passed by Richmond.

Why not? If they are intent on enforcing blatantly unconstitutional laws, why shouldn't they be resisted by any means necessary?

In a perfect world we would put all dems in New England (really prefer another country) but for this scenaria NE will do. They could seceded but they would all have to live in NE. None in any other state. If someone becomes a dem/leftist they would, by law, have to relocate to NE within 45 days.
This would free up the beautiful states of California, Oregon, and Washington for acceptable living conditions again along with, of course, all the current blue states outside NE.
Leftism would be treated with the same concern as a highly contagious and deadly disease such as ebola. It really should be right now.
If this comes to pass, do not fight the police or National Guard. Do not engage those sent to disarm you.

Not only a right to rebel but a duty to do so.
Those who follow unconstitutional orders are enemy. Period. End. Dot.
If the National Guard does their duty, the politicals will be rounded up and detained for issuing such orders. If not, then the NG are valid and necessary targets too.
The funny part in all this is, most, if not all, those NG soldiers, NCOs and officers are gun owners as well.

The left tends to believe military personnel are simple robots without the capability of self thought or will that can be ordered to do anything at any time for any reason.

However, those that choose to protect those that give the order should not be considered cannon fodder, but a mere extension of the usurper, and upon successful transaction(s), a source of re-supply... and a clear message sent to others.

That has yet to be seen. I will note, however, that you see very little pushback among police in CA and elsewhere on their unconstitutional gun laws.
IMO, the Supreme Court really needs to come right out and declare the 2nd Amendment as fully a part of the Constitution that will be enforced as vigorously as the 'penumbras' surrounding the abortion issue.
You can waste your time fighting LEO and the cannon fodder the socialists send after you.
