Lil Bub, Famous Internet Cat, Dead at 8

Internet-famous cat Lil Bub has died, as BrooklynVegan notes. “On the morning of Sunday, December 1 2019 we lost the purest, kindest, and most magical living force on our planet,” Bub’s “dude” Mike Bridavsky announced. “Bub was cheerful and full of love laying in our bed with us Saturday night, but unexpectedly passed away peacefully in her sleep.” Lil Bub was 8 years old.

We had to put down our 16-year-old cat in the early hours of December 1st. She had been going downhill for the last year but still had a voracious appetite. The funny thing is...she was losing weight at the same time. She only weighed 7 lbs most of her life, and by the end she was skin and bones. Then Friday night she threw up about 1/2 cup of blood and appeared to be dying. She made it through the night and all of the next day, but by late evening she seemed worse so we made the painful decision to put “Crazy Zoe” out of her misery. It’s the first time in 29 years that we haven’t had a kitty cat in our home, and I miss her like crazy!

My cat Speedy does that sometimes. He'll be sitting somewhere, staring at something that isn't there, then he'll swivel his head around and look at me. His mouth will be slightly open, and his tongue is hanging out. No reason. He just sits there. I lean forward and say, "Don't sit there with your tongue hanging out, dummy! What in the hell is wrong with you?" LOL He usually snaps it right back in. Nothing more amusing than having a cat going full retard on you.

Lil Bub is a dead ringer for my cat Chloe. Wonder if there's some common ancestry a long way back.

Maybe you don't, but that's your loss. Within the limits of her little cat brain, my cat reciprocates the affection I show her. She curls up on my lap every morning while I read the paper and drink my coffee. She's one of God's blessings in my life. Granted, not as great a blessing as my wife and children, but still I'm grateful to have her.
